Billy J. Winningham
Billy J. Winningham age 76 of Alpine, was born Thursday, September 9, 1948, to Edgar and Minnie (Butram) Winningham. Billy Passed away Thursday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 76 as a result of complications from heart surgery.
In his childhood, Billy roamed the mountains and hollers of Alpine and surrounding areas. In his old age, he joked that he was an orphan as a child because he constantly drifted from house to house of his family and friend, always on an adventure and seeking the simple joys of life. One of his greatest passions in life was fishing, which he did in rivers as a child and spent many days doing the same on Dale Hollow Lake alongside his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. He once said he spent more days fishing on a riverside by a fire than he did in school.
Although Billy did not pursue academics beyond high school and the Navy, he was a brilliant man, always able to see the little details and to foresee problems down the road. One of his mottos was “always anticipate.” This helped him in his work as a foreman for S. C. C. Sprinklers, which he enjoyed and took great pride in for 40 years. Billy was the longest working employee of S. C. C. and his work took him all over the state resulting in him leaving an impact on many throughout his life.
Billy was an abrasive man, but he loved his family passionately and always made sure they never did without. He met the love of his life at a young age, Judy (Cravens) Winningham, and was always a loyal and catering husband to her. In life, they had three children, their joy Lisa in 1970, and their twins: Brandon and Virginia in 1976, who were stillborn but greatly loved nonetheless. In 2002, their cherished granddaughter, Alley Jo was born, and they spent many years nurturing and caring for her, ensuring she was given the best life possible. In 2019, Billy left his job to care for his sick wife who passed away in August 2020. His remaining years were spent enriching the lives of his family, dear friend: Leo Ledbetter, and many more.
Billy is survived by his granddaughter, Alley Jo Long; daughter, Lisa C. Long; his son-in-law, Richard (Rick) L. Long; his sister, Brenda Moon; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; twin children; brothers, Ted, John, and Leroy; and countless other loved ones.
He will be greatly missed and was undoubtedly a gift from God to his family. Acts 16:31, “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
Graveside services for Mr. Billy J. Winningham will was on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2 PM in the Copeland Cemetery in Alpine on the Wilder Highway next to his home. The family welcomed friends at the cemetery at the 2 PM service. Bro. Rick Tinch officiated the service.

Leroy Riggs
In Loving Memory of Leroy Riggs, a Beacon of Unconditional Love and Strength. Leroy, 59 of Brentwood, passed into the arms of our Lord on April 02, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Leroy, known for his boundless love, unwavering integrity, and infectious laughter. Leroy leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the fortune to know him.
Born on September 06, 1964. Leroy’s journey was one of profound impact, marked by the light of his kind spirit and the joy of his laughter making the world brighter with his every step. He married Anais, his soulmate, and the love of his life, and together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, adventure, and the kind of partnership that novels are inspired by, with their love as a beacon guiding them through every challenge and joy. Their children, Keshia, Vanessa, and Chris were the center of Leroy’s universe, each moment with them a cherished treasure.
In his professional life Leroy was a testament to hard work, dedication, and compassion touching lives in ways that go beyond what words can capture. Yet, it was in the simple quiet moments amidst the peace of his beloved farm that Leroy’s soul truly danced. Here, in his earthly paradise, he taught his children the values of dedication, the beauty of simple living, and the profound joy found in nature’s embrace. Leroy’s life was a living lesson in finding happiness in the smallest of things, whether it was tilling the land, working on the tractor, or pausing to reveal the tranquil beauty of the world around him. Leroy lived his life to the fullest, guided by a profound philosophy of patience, resilience, and an unwavering joy of being with his family.
Leroy’s loving spirit lives on through his devoted wife, Anais Riggs; his beloved children, Vanessa Riggs, Keshia Riggs, and Christopher Riggs; and his adored grandchildren, Lilly, Dallas, and Clemmie, all of whom will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his mother, Helen; his brother Jessie; his sister Bonnie; and a tapestry of friends and family, enriched by his generosity, wisdom, and the comforting presence he was to everyone. Welcoming him into heaven are his late father Roy Lee Riggs, and father-in-law, Andres Brewster, among other relatives.
A celebration of Leroy’s remarkable life was held on Saturday, April 06, 2024, at 1 PM at Hall Funeral Home, LLC, in Livingston, TN. The family welcomed friends at the funeral home starting at 11 AM until the 1 PM service on Saturday April 6th. Officiating was Bro. Tim Miles. As we gather to honor his journey, let us hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love that Leroy shared so freely. Although he may have stepped into the next adventure, his spirit, his love, and the unbreakable mark he left in our hearts will remain with us always. To Leroy the best husband, father, and friend, your legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to inspire us every day. In our hearts, your light shines on, guiding us, comforting us, and reminding us of the beauty in life’s simplest moments. Rest in peace my dear Leroy, until we meet again.

Curtis Wallin
Mr. Curtis McCoy Wallin age 85 of Livingston, Overton Co., Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Hospital.
Curtis leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Vivian Wallin of Livingston; One Daughter, Rebecca Wallin of Livingston; One Son: Chris Wallin and his wife Elizabeth of White House; Two Brothers in-law: William Campbell of Louisville, Ky and Jerry Randall of Bronston, Ky; One Sister in-law: Lillian Randall of Bronston, Ky; Three Nieces: Deborah Myers of Louisville, Ky, Mary Elizabeth Briden of Evergreen, Co, and Jaime Randall of Bronston, KY; One Nephew: William Alan Campbell of Georgetown, Ky; and cousins which include JoAnna Sasnett, Janet O’Brien, Elizabeth Milar, Roger Hollars, Joanie Sewell, Linda McClendon, John Hollars, Ronald Hollars and Gerald Roberts. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Campbell.
Curtis was born in Tateville, Pulaski Co., Ky on Friday, January 20, 1939 to the late Chapel and Virginia (Hollars) Wallin. Curtis deeply loved his family and friends. He was a member of Hilham Union Church. Curtis was a trained musician with a major in voice and a minor in Piano from Western Kentucky University. He was a founding member of The Ambassadors Quartet and toured extensively with the as well as recorded four albums. He also served as a Minister of Music and Youth Minister at Oneida First Baptist Church and Monterey First Baptist Church, where he retired. He loved singing and playing music. He had a Master’s Degree in Theology, and was only three classes away from having a PhD. in Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He loved to fish, hunt, and grow huge gardens. He was happiest when digging in the dirt and watching things grow. Curtis enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball and football as well as Atlanta Braves Baseball; in later years he enjoyed wine making. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him very much.
Funeral services for Mr. Curtis McCoy Wallin were held on Tuesday, April 09, 2024, at 1:00 PM from the Hall Funeral Home in Livingston with burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Fentress Co. The family welcomed friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 9th beginning at 11:00 AM until the service begins at 1:00 PM. Officiating was Pastor Marty Kirk of Hilham Union Church. Serving, as pallbearers will be Joey Maxwell, Justin Maxwell, Ethan Geesling, Jeff Penticuff, Garry Garrett, and Donnie Sullivan.
