Relative Caregiver Program Support Group Meeting

Are you raising a relative child or need housing assistance? For more information on assistance and support, please contact Melissa Allison at the Upper Cumberland Development District toll-free at 1-877-275-8233. A support group meeting will be held for relatives that are caring for relative children during the month of September 2021. Please contact Melissa Allison at (931) 476-4127 if you are interested in attending this meeting. For housing assistance, while caring for minor child contact Myra Walker at 931-432-4111.

Narcotics Anonymous Meetings

Every Friday beginning at 7 p.m.; every Sunday at 5 p.m.; second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. All held at the Overton County Library. The program is not sponsored by the library. For more information call (931) 303-2132.

The Stephens Center Parent-Child Connection

Fall 2021, Series I: Wednesdays 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sessions are held at the Stephens Center, located at 616 North Church St., Livingston. Certificates will be awarded to parents attending eight sessions within the series. There is no charge for PCC sessions. September 29: “Make-Up Session” For more information, call 823-6432.

Ombudsman Volunteer

Aging Services for the Upper Cumberland, Inc. is looking for people who are empathetic, diplomatic, and skilled communicators to be volunteer Ombudsmen. As a volunteer ombudsman, you will be assigned to a specific long-term care facility, working to ensure that the resident’s rights are being protected. You will help residents with problems they are unable to resolve alone. Volunteer ombudsmen dedicate three (3) hours per week to this job. On-going training and support are provided. This could be the most challenging and rewarding volunteer opportunity you may ever have. For more information, please call Tracie Long at (931) 432-4210.

Parkinson’s Support Group

The Parkinson’s Support group will meet October 5 at 10:00 am at Caney Fork Baptist Church, 2404 Hwy. 70 E. Cookeville. The speaker will be Dennis Parker. Topic will be his personal journey with Parkinson’s disease. Contact Peggy Nesmith at (931)854-5799 with any questions. Masks and social distancing required.

Head Start Policy Council

The monthly meeting of the L.B.J & C Head Start Policy Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 5, 2021 beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the L.B.J. & C Development Corporation, 1150 Chocolate Dr., Cookeville, Tennessee.

Car Show

Standing Stone’s 23rd Annual Car Show will be Saturday, October 9 at 1674 Standing Stone Park Hwy., Hilham, Tenn. 38568. Registration begins at 9 a.m. $10 entry fee per car. Admission is free to the general public. For more information email David.Harris@tn.gov.

L.B.J. & C. Policy Council

The L.B.J & C. Development Corporation Board of Directors will hold their bi-monthly meeting Tuesday, October 12, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation, 1150 Chocolate Drive, Cookeville, Tennessee.

Rickman Fall Festival

Rickman Elementary’s annual Fall Festival will be held Thursday, October 7th from 6-9 p.m. in the school gym. Concessions will begin being sold at 5 p.m. There will be games, silent auction, a variety of vendors, and door prizes. Please come out and join us for a fun filled night. Anyone interested in being a vendor please contact Rachel Scarlett at 498-2825 by Wednesday, October 6th.

American Legion Dance

The SlickNickel band is returning to Livingston for an evening of dancing and country music on Friday October 1st from 7pm until 10pm at the American Legion Post in Livingston located at 121 S. Church St. All dances are family friendly and open to the public, membership not necessary. Concessions are available.

Coffee With A Vet

Livingston’s American Legion Post 4 and Auxiliary Unit 4 along will be hosting “Coffee with a Veteran” on Saturday October 2nd from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at American Legion Post 4 headquarters located at 121 S. Church St., Livingston. We are inviting the public and those who have served or who are currently serving in our armed forces to come and have coffee, conversation, and enjoy the comradeship.

American Legion Meeting

The Livingston American Legion and Auxiliary will hold their monthly meetings on Tuesday, October 5th at post headquarters located at 121 S. Church St. The Auxiliary meets at 5:30pm and the Legion meeting begins at 6:00pm.
