Fight The Flu Day Nov. 9

Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be on everyone’s mind, health care workers want to also stress the importance of fighting the flu.

Megan Reeder of the Overton Co. Health Department said the health department is currently offering flu shots daily, but they are about to ramp up efforts to get the community vaccinated.

We are going to have a special Fight Flu Day on November 9,” Reeder said. “It’s going to be a push throughout the health department to get everybody vaccinated throughout the state. It is our free flu day. That’s the day the vaccine will start to go free.”

Reeder said currently the vaccine is being billed to insurance or is on a sliding scale.

Past Fight the Flu days, Reeder said, actually helped the health departments prepare for the onslaught of patients during the pandemic.
