The Overton County Commission has approved a redistricting plan.
At its monthly meeting Oct. 18, commissioners approved a plan that moves 742 voters into new voting districts.
The county has to approve new districts every 10 years due to U.S. Census findings. Overton County Executive Ben Danner said growth in the Rickman area, especially, caused the change in district lines.
“I remember when I was on the county commission 10-years-ago, it’s not a pleasant thing,” Danner said. “I know people don’t like to get moved in districts that you’ve voted at, and you’ve always been voting, but growth in any county – it’s good we have growth, but that’s the price of growth.”
