In what was their most competitive game so far of the season, the Wildcats of Livingston Academy fell to York Institute 35-18 Thursday night.
In a lot of ways, the final score was perhaps the only drawback of this young team’s best effort.
Early in the fourth quarter, Bordey Coffee found Jaden Lawrence between two defenders in the end zone for one of the duo’s two touchdown connections in the game, bringing the Wildcats to within 10 points at 28-18 with just over 11 minutes to play.
After a huge defensive stand by LA’s defense, the Wildcat offense took control at their own 28-yard-line with 8:52 left in the fourth. Looking to move within one score, they drove the ball 34 yards in 13 plays, including first down conversions on both third and fourth down carries from Nathan Cowgill. However, a holding call and sack on back-to-back plays put the Wildcats in long yardage situations, and LA ended up turning the ball over on downs.
