Shirlyn Kay McCormick
Shirlyn Kay McCormick, 77, of Livingston, passed away Aug. 29 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held Sept. 3 from Campground Cemetery with Bro. Brett Gibbons officiating.
She was born Sept. 20, 1943 in Akron, Ohio. She taught school for the LBJ & C, enjoyed cooking, sewing, going to yard sales and Christian in faith.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Edgar Dawson McCormick and Clura V. Geesling McCormick; and brother, Michael McCormick.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Mark Gore and wife, Lea Ann of Hilham and David Gore and wife, Amy of Hilham; grandsons, William Charles Gore, Richard Andrew Gore and Jake Edward Gore; and brother, Gary McCormick of Livingston.
Pallbearers were Jake Edward Gore, Will Gore, Chad Dillon, Timmy Geesling, Mike Savage and Drew Gore.
Speck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ernest D. “Boone” Dishman
Ernest D. “Boone” Dishman, 75, of Livingston, passed away Aug. 30 from his home. Funeral services were held Sept. 4 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Savage officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
He was born Feb. 17, 1946 in Overton County. He served as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War, enjoyed playing golf, his guitar, corn toss, pool and pitching horseshoes.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Kenneth M.C. And O.V. Savage Dishman; wife, Beverly Lynn Laycox Dishman; brother, Dannie Dishman; and sisters, Linda Lou Dishman and Janet Walker.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Dewayne Dishman and fiancee, Ruby of Livingston and Douglas Wayne Dishman of Knoxville; grandchildren, Krystina Marie Dishman, Joshua Garrett, Nokomie Garrett and Britney Garrett; sister, Brenda Shelton and husband, Billy of Rickman; brother, Kenneth Paul Dishman and wife, Pat of Alpine; uncle, Jerry Savage of Livingston; aunts, Ellen Joyce Sheilds and Genevie Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Phyllis June Alford
Phyllis June Alford, 72, of Hilham, passed away Aug. 28. A memorial service was held Sept. 3.
She was born May 6, 1949 in Hilham. She proudly served in the U.S. Army and served he country as a Pathologist at Martin Army Community Hospital where she retired. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Sewell Canada Long and Clara Parker Melton; and siblings, Horace Canada Long, Sarah Long Bilbrey and Faye Long Copeland.
Surviving relatives include: daughter, Nicole Henderson; son, Tony Alford, Jr.; grandchildren, Nathaniel Henderson, Ta’Niyah Alford, Taliyiah Alford and Tony Alford; brother, Bill Long; sister, Edna Robert; lifelong friend, Adrene Pompey; and a host of extended friends and family.
