Paul J. Davis
Paul J. Davis, 83, of Cookeville, passed away on June 20 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held on June 23 from the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Doug Hawkins and Bro. Archie Whitefield officiated.
He was born in Hilham on Sept. 18, 1937. He was Baptist in faith. He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Jake and Lena Nevada (Burks) Davis.
He is survived by: wife, Willa Dean Davis; son, Jeff Davis and wife, Kathy; grandson, Justin Davis and wife, Jessie; great-grandson, Jacob Lee Davis and great-granddaughter, Madison Jaye Davis.
Pallbearers who served were Marty Maynord, Wesley Maynord, Kyler Davis, Cody Davis, Thorn Walthall, Tyler Howard and Braxton Morgan.
Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bobby Lee Rice, 83, of Hilham, passed away on June 19 from the comfort of his home. Masonic and Eastern Star Services were held on June 24 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.
He was born in Baxter on Feb. 9, 1938. He moved north at a young age to work for General Motors. He was a 32nd degree Mason for 50 years and devoted much of his life to the lodge. He enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagle dogs and also enjoyed fishing. His hobby was CB radios and he took pride in collecting money for disabled children through the CB Radio Jamborees.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Logan Mansfield and Alice Judd Rice; sisters, Mary Rice, Grace Maynard, Versa Maxwell, Edna Williams, Deloris Massa and Nancy Johnson; brothers, Lawrence, Houston, Arson and Joe Rice.
He is survived by: wife, Carolyn Brock Rice of Hilham; sons, Bobby Joe Rice and wife, Susan, of Centerline, Mich. and James Ray Rice and wife, Sherry of Hilham; daughter, Patty Lee Rice and fiancé, Author Rose, of Freeport, Bahamas; grandsons, Jon Rice, Joshua Rice, Joey Rice, Randall Rice, Liam Adams and Robert Smith and wife, Tiffany; granddaughters, Jerrica Rice, Rowan Adams and Melody Dayhuff; seven great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson; brother, Lonny Rice and wife, Carol, of Baxter; sisters, Oma Stidham and Wilma Rodgers, both of Cookeville; sister-in-law, Morina Rice of Gainesboro; several nieces and nephews.
Carl E. Freeman
Carl E. Freeman, 68, of Rickman, passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on June 20. Graveside services were held on June 24 from the Roberson Cemetery in Putnam County. Bro. Danny Hembree officiated.
He was born in Cookeville on July 21, 1952. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. He leaves behind a family that loved him dearly and will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by: father, Herman P. Freeman.
He is survived by: mother, Mildred Flo Reels; brothers, James Freeman, Herman Paul Freeman and Richard Harlan Freeman; half-sisters, Jenny Gale and Cathy and nephew, Scott Freeman.
