County Commissioners met in a Nursing Home meeting last Thursday and discussed increasing the salary for support staff to compete with other facilities in the area.
Overton County Health and Rehab (OCHR) Administrator Jennifer Bouldin has been bringing starting pay increases to the board for approval over the course of the last several months to compete with other facilities in the area—this time bringing a proposal for the support staff.
Bouldin explained that they have been completing surveys in the area and the support staff at other facilities rate of pay ranges from $8.37 to $9.50 per hour.
Bouldin asked that they start their Dietary Aides, Laundry and Housekeeping at $9 per hour and Cooks at $9.50.
“The cooks have a little bit more added responsibility,” Bouldin explained. “For our current staff, we would give them all a 5% increase.”
According to Bouldin, the annual cost would be an additional $32,895.
