A community effort to restore a historic cemetery within the Town of Livingston started over the weekend with the first of many work sessions.
A community organization, Envision Livingston, has taken on the task to restore 180-year old Cash Cemetery.
In last week’s edition of the Livingston Enterprise, members of Envision Livingston submitted an article that spoke of the many great people that have been laid to rest in this cemetery; however, later it was made known that many people who have been buried there lie in unmarked graves, many of whom were slaves in Overton County.
Pat Poston, a town historian and genealogist, sat down in an exclusive interview and spoke on behalf of some of those who have been laid to rest in the historical Cash Cemetery.
