Edith Marie Carter

Edith Marie Carter, 81, of Livingston passed away Sept. 28 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at the chapel of Hall Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Ruth Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Buckner officiated.

She was born in Livingston on Aug. 31, 1939. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and mother and a dear friend to all. 

She was preceded in death by: parents, Elmo and Emma Mae (England) Bilbrey; brothers, Melvin Bilbrey, Glen Bilbrey and Billy Bilbrey and sister-in-law, Janie Bilbrey.

She is survived by: husband, Norman Clifton Carter; daughter, Shelia Faye Carter; brother, Donald Bilbrey and wife, Patricia; special nieces, Donna Gantt and husband, Gene and Melissa Daws and husband, Eddie; special nephew, Terry Bilbrey; special great-niece, Savannah Daws; special great-nephew, Cole Bilbrey; a host of other nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family.

Ruby Savage

Ruby E. Savage, 90, of Livingston passed away Oct. 2 from Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held Oct. 5 at the chapel of Hall Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Allen’s Chapel Cemetery. Bro. James Shenko officiated.

She was born in Livingston on Dec. 11, 1929. She was a loving wife to her husband that passed on before her a few years ago; a loving mother to her sons and daughter, and a loving grandmother to all her grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Bennie M. and Mindie (Gore) Phillips; husband, Robert Joel Savage; grandson, LCP Jeremiah Savage; brothers, Willie Phillips and wife, Daisy, Earnest Phillips, Oscar Phillips, Haskell Phillips and wife, Jewel, Lonzie Phillips and wife, Phyllis, J.B. Phillips and Grady Phillips and sister, Lela Barry.

She is survived by: daughter, Brenda Damron; sons, Bobby Savage and wife, Rita, Danny Savage and wife, Peggy and Ronald Savage and wife, Eva; grandchildren, Shawn Savage and wife, Sandy, Jason Savage and wife, Kim, Ryan Savage and wife, Val, Nicholas Savage, Jon Savage and wife, Jen, Chelsea Savage, Keith Damron and wife, Evetta and Colten Damron; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Juanita Phillips, Jean Phillips, Opal Phillips and Sue Neely along with nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

Bobbie Sells

Bobbie J. Sells, 84, of Livingston passed away Oct. 2 at her residence. Graveside services were held Oct. 4 at the Sells Cemetery. Interment followed. Bro. Jonathan Ledbetter officiated.

She was born in Livingston on Jan. 2, 1936. She was a former administrator at the Overton County Nursing Home and later worked at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, and Gma she had a passion for the Lord and was a longtime member of the Free Communion Church of Christ, bust most recently a member of the Livingston Church of Christ. She also thoroughly enjoyed needlework, puzzles, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family. She was known for her famous fried apple pies, extreme patience, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Robert and Willie Gore Nolen; sister, Joyce Young; brothers, Oscar Nolan, Claude Nolan and Chalmer Nolan.

She is survived by: husband, Harley James (Jim) Sells; sons, James Sells and wife, Joyce and Mark Sells and wife, Tammie; granddaughter, Lindsey Loftis and husband, Jonathan; grandson, Graham Sells and wife, Kaysha; great-grandchildren, Judah Loftis, Matilda Sells, Lorelai Sells; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, church family and her loving neighbors.

Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lela Rhea Stapp

Lela Rhea Stapp, 89, of Livingston passed away Sept. 29 from Livingston Regional Hospital. Graveside services were held Oct. 3 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

She was born in Athens, Tenn. on Sept. 16, 1931.

She was preceded in death by: parents, David and Emma Carroll Riggs; husband, Alfred Dale Stapp; daughter, Dale Rhea Stapp; brother, Clyde Riggs and sister, Reva Barton.

She is survived by: daughters, Penny Dean and husband, Jeff of Ocoee, Fla. and Bonnie Stapp of Livingston; granddaughter, Katie Grace Dean; special nieces, Faye Hale and husband, Owen of Knoxville, Ann Barton of Knoxville, Nancy Barton of Knoxville and Rhonda Shirk of Athens and sister-in-law, Beverly Riggs of Athens.

John W. Heldenbrand

John Warren Heldenbrand, Jr., 51, of Livingston passed away May 12, 2020 from his residence. Celebration of Life services were held Oct. 3 at the First Christian Church of Livingston. Rev. James Shenko officiated.

He was born Oct. 4, 1968 in Muncie, Ind. He was a 1987 graduate of Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., then graduated from the University of Indiana. Christian in Faith, he enjoyed being a musician and playing in his band that he started in High School.

He was preceded in death by: father, John Warren Heldenbrand, Sr.

He is survived by: mother, Frances Smith, of Livingston; sisters, Jennifer Zervas and husband, Mark of Grand Haven, Mich. and Melissa Heldenbrand of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
