The Overton County Fair Association met last night and unanimously voted in canceling the 2020 Overton County Fair amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overton County Executive Ben Danner expressed that even though the infection numbers are low in the county, it is important to consider canceling this year’s fair in order to keep the numbers low.
“I know it will probably make a lot of people mad, but I don’t think we ought to have it,” he said. “I don’t see any way we can have it and be safe. With everyone canceling around us, everyone will be wanting to be coming to ours and there is no guarantee we can keep them safe.”
