Observe Veterans Day
Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park will commemorate Veterans Day Weekend Nov. 8-10 prior to a Veterans Day ceremony at the park on Nov. 11. Among the programs will be “Back from War: Pall Mall Parade,” on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. The parade will highlight the return of the Doughboys in 1919 and honor all veterans from wars past and present. The weekend will feature World War I era biplanes, historians, period music, replica trenches, and battle reenactments in the Wolf River Valley. The Veterans Day ceremony will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 in the York Barn at 11 a.m.
The United Daughters Of The Confederacy
The United Daughters Of The Confederacy, Captain Sally Tompkins 2123 will have its monthly meeting Wednesday, Nov.6 at noon in the upper level of the Putnam County Library. Please contact 931-738-5869 if you have a Confederate ancestor or further questions.

Historic Preservation Lecture
Join Mark Dudney, historic preservation planner with the Upper Cumberland Development District, will present “Historic Preservation in the Upper Cumberland” Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cookeville City Hall council chambers, 45 E. Broad St. The lecture, presented by Friends of the Cookeville History Museum as part of the Heritage Lecture Series, is intended to be entertaining and informative.
