David Ross Oakley

Mr. David Ross Oakley, 79, of Livingston, passed away on July 11 in the comfort of his home. Funeral services were held on July 14 at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Caleb Sampson officiated. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Overton County on Aug. 12, 1939. He was a graduate of Rickman High School and a member of Allons Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, skeet shooting and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Lela Norrod Oakley; first wife, Bonnie Louise Smith Oakley and second wife, Wilma Epling Oakley; and niece, Vickie Harvey Worley.

He is survived by sister, Diann Oakley Harvey and husband, Roger of Livingston; brothers, Billy Oakley and wife, Brenda of Cookeville and Hughie Oakley and wife Cathy of Dry Hollow Community; several nieces and nephews and friends.

Pallbearers to serve are Landon Oakley, Chad Harvey, Dennis Cumby, Timmy Smith, Donald Flemming and Dylan Matthews.

Gladys Helen Garrett

Gladys Helen Garrett, 90, of Livingston, passed away on July 10 at Blakeford at Green Hills. Funeral services were held on July 13 at the chapel Speck Funeral Home. Rev. Craig Green officiated. Interment followed in the Garrett Cemetery.

She was born in Smith County on May 12, 1929. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and cross-stitching. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Johni Riley and Mary Jane Barlow Greer; husband, Martin Cole Garrett; brother, Buddy Greer; and sisters, Annie Wilson, Lucille Bilbrey, Arxie Dishman and Lorene Talley.

She is survived by daughters, Judy Eldridge and husband, Mitch of Crossville, Sue Jones and husband, David of Nashville, Patsy Basin and husband, Roger of Mission Viejo, Calif. and Fay Garrett of Brentwood; grandchildren, Jeff, Matt, Keli, Garrett and wife, Lauren, Jason and Derek and wife, Lauren; great-grandchildren, Violet, Kayla and Nolan.

Mary McDonald Jackson

Mrs. Mary McDonald Jackson, 91, of Cookeville, passed away July 11 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Graveside services and Interment were held July 13 at Granville Cemetery. Bro. Wallace Caldwell officiated.

She is survived by children, Robbie Melton and husband, Terry of Livingston, Janna Hill of Cookeville, Lewis C. Jackson Jr. of Buffalo Valley; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were: Brad Jackson, Dusty Hill, Clint Melton, Cody Melton, Matthew Jackson and Creed Jackson.

William Thomas Boles

William Thomas Boles, 84, of Clay County, passed away on July 6 at his residence. Funeral services were held on July 10 at the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina. Bro. John Mabrey officiated. Interment followed at the Turkey Town Cemetery.

He was born in Clay Co., on Nov. 16, 1934. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by parents, Haywood and Ruby (York) Boles; son, Tommy Boles; brothers, Eugene Boles and Gomer Boles; sister, Martha Emberton.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Boles; children, Debra Schaap, Kenneth Boles, Samuel Boles and Cynthia Swisher; sisters, Dora Parks and Wilma Boles; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
