Jewell Cooper

Factory Worker

Jewell Cooper, 65, of Livingston, passed away on April 8 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services were held April 12 at the Holly Springs Church of Christ with Wayne Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery.

She was born March 1, 1954 in Clay County. She is remembered as a funny, kind-hearted woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She spent her adult career as a factory worker and she was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Wonnie (Roberts) Key; brothers, Freddie and Phillip Key; and sisters, Carolyn Ferrell and Dorothy Cole.

Surviving relatives include; husband, Robert Cooper; sons, Charles Cooper and wife, Lacey and Ross Cooper and wife, Shannon, all of Livingston; nieces, Melissa Simpson and Sammye Copeland, also of Livingston; grandchildren, Kade, Ollie and Harlan Cooper, Shayla Ervin, Olivia, Devin and Sarah Simpson, Grayson Copeland and Abby Thompson; brothers, Joe Key and Gary Key, both of McMinnville; sisters, Joy Tobit of McMinnville and Janie Copeland and Mary Jo Arms, both of Livingston; and a host of other family and friends.

Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Judy Ann Padgett

LPN

Judy Ann Johnson Padgett, 71, of Livingston, passed away on April 15 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services were held April 20 at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Craig Green officiated. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

She was born November 25, 1947 in Overton County. She was an LPN for Livingston Regional Hospital for many years. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed thrift stores all over Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by parents, Milburn and Tina Johnson; brother, Art Johnson.

She is survived by; husband, Hoyt Padgett; daughters, Holly Padgett, and Katie Ledbetter and husband Nick; grandchildren, Eli Kirk, Sam Kirk and wife Candace, Hannah Kirk, Conner Kirk, and Cajun Ledbetter; great grandson, Benjamin Kirk; brother, R.L. Johnson and wife Jonesetta; sisters, Mary Jo Denton and husband Hal and Betty Copeland.

William H. “Billy” Ferrell

Carpenter

William Harrison “Billy” Ferrell, 77, of Collins Cove Community, passed away April 17 at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services were held April 19 at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Rick Lacy and Bro. Troy Pennington officiated. Interment followed in the Harris Chapel Cemetery.

He was born in Overton County on April 28, 1941. He was affiliated with Harris Chapel Church. He worked for many years doing carpentry work and painting. Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and being outdoors. His favorite love was being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents Mitchell and Beulah Booher Ferrell and sister Lois Kirby.

He is survived by wife, Delta Oakley Ferrell; daughters, Sandra Matthews and husband Bob, Donna Gentry and husband Randy and Patricia Poteet and husband Gerald; grandchildren, William Green, Cody Green and Jessica Poteet; great-grandchildren, Marley Green and Hunter Green; nephew, David Kirby.

Pallbearers that served were Cody Green, William Green, Tom Greenwood, Ray Austin, Terry Dillon and Sonny Burks.

Carlene H. Wright

Carlene H. Wright, 89, of Muncie, IN passed away Friday morning, April 19 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie, IN. She was born Jan. 9, 1930 in Livingston, TN the daughter of Oren Thomas and Nanny (Winningham) Huddleston. She was a graduate of Livingston Academy.

Carlene retired in 1990 as Director of Support after 27 years with the U.S. Postal Service. She was the first woman as Director of Support for the State of Indiana. She was past President of Pilot Club of Muncie, member of the Action Committee of Muncie and was an active member and served as board member with the Parker United Methodist Church. She was an avid skier, and still skiing at the age of 84. She enjoyed camping and boating at her favorite get-away, Dale Hollow Lake.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Randall Smith (wife, Sherry) of Edinburgh, IN; a daughter, Susan Bilbrey (husband, Jackie) of Muncie, IN; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two step children, Jenny Dunham (husband, Al) and Diane Howell (husband, Dennis). She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Marvin “Bud” Wright; siblings, Jack Huddleston, Lloyd Huddleston, R.G. Huddleston, Stella Cantrell and Aleatha Almondrode.

A service to celebrate Carlene’s life was held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Entombment followed at Gardens of Memory. Family and friends gathered to share and remember from 10 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Parker United Methodist Church and/or Little Red Door. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
