L.B.J. & C. To Close

For Good Friday

The L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers and the Central Office will be closed April 19 in observance of Good Friday.

Clean Up Week To Begin

Clean up week will begin Monday, April 8 and continue through Friday, April 12 for the citizens of Livingston.  Any unwanted items should be placed at the curb for pick-up.  Items that will not be picked up include tires, chemicals, wire, fence and paint.  Building materials will be picked up, but the individual will have to pay for their disposal.

Baby Shower To Be Held

The Overton County Health Department is hosting a baby shower for Overton County residents. Come learn how to prepare and care for your baby on Thursday, April 11 at 5 p.m. The shower is to be held at the health department located at 5880 Bradford Hicks Drive. Free giveaways and food will be provided. For more information and to RSVP, call the health department at 823-6260.

Stroke Support Group Now Offered

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has a stroke support group for patients and their families who have had a stroke. On April 4, the stroke support group will have a presentation on cybersecurity, presented by Curt Powers, Technical Services Manager at Cookeville Regional. The support group meets the first Thursday of each month for one hour starting at 1 p.m. at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center’s dining room located at 215 West Sixth St. in Cookeville. Attendees can park on the west side of the building at the corner of West Sixth Street and N. Whitney Avenue for closer parking and entry into the building. Parent-Child Connection Class To Be Held

The Stephens Center will begin its Parent Child Connection (PCC) parents’ support group Spring 2019, Series II. Sessions are held at The Stevens Center located at 616 North Church Street in Livingston on Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Certificates will be awarded to parents attending eight sessions within this series. This is no charge for PCC sessions. Everyone welcome. For more information call 823-6432. On April 17, a “Violent Relationships” course is to be held.

Convenience Recycling Centers To Close

All convenience centers will be closed April 19 for Good Friday and will reopen as usual April 20.

Support Group To Be Held

Are you raising a relative child or need housing assistance? For more information on assistance and support, please contact Melissa Allison at the Upper Cumberland Developments District toll free at 1-877-275-8233. A support group meeting will be held for relatives that are caring for relative children in Livingston at the Millard Oakley Public Library located at 107 E. Main Street on Thursday, April 18 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Please contact Melissa Allison at 931-476-4127, if you are interested in attending this meeting. For housing assistance while caring for minor child, contact Myra Walker at 931-432-4111.

Caregiver Support Group To Be Held

On Tuesday, April 16, the Upper Cumberland Development District / Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) will hold its caregiver support group meetings in Livingston. The meetings are for anyone caring for another individual. Livingston’s meeting will be held at Millard Oakley Library located at 107 E Main Street in Livingston from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, please contact Family Caregiver Staff, at (931) 432-4111.

The Overton County Rescue Squad will begin a free delivery within five miles of the Livingston city limits for their rib-eye steak and chicken strip dinner fund-raiser on Saturday, April 27. Commodities To Be

Distributed In Livingston

The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Overton County, Livingston on Tuesday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Livingston Church of Christ located at 215 E. Main Street in Livingston. Everyone must present a valid UCHRA commodity card in order to receive commodities. Sign up will be available at the distribution site.

Hemp Production

Class To Be Held

The Overton County Rural Development will be having guest speaker Linda Ely of Wilder Mountain Botanicals at the UT Extension Office located at 312 W. Broad Street in Livingston at the Joe. L. Evins Community Center on Tuesday, April 16 at noon. Ely will share information on hemp grown on the Ely Farm and will discuss CBD oil, as well as the pain cream and other products produced from the oils. Hemp contains CBD, cannabidiol, which is not psychoactive, according to www.medicalnewstoday.com, which means hemp does not change a person’s state of mind. Bag lunch is welcomed.
