Committee Looks At Sales Tax

A new resolution that declares that the uniform local sales tax rates for out-of-state sellers should be eliminated made its passage through the Overton County Budget Committee on Wednesday night.

The resolution “to urge the Tennessee General Assembly to adopt an equitable distribution of local sales tax revenue from out-of-state sellers,” Resolution 2019-0408-01, reports that county governments are limited by law regarding the forms of taxation and revenue generation that they’re allowed to use.
