Fish And Chicken Fry Benefit To Be Held
A fish and chicken fry benefit is to be held on Feb. 16 at the Alpine Fire Department from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds go to Pansy Ledbetter Phillips to help pay medical bills. Pansy is battling cancer for the second time. Dinner will include choice of fish or chicken, potatoes, hushpuppies, beans, slaw, drink and dessert.
Parent-Child Connection Classes To Be Held
A Stephens Center’s Parent-Child Connection (PCC) “Coping With Stress” session is to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Stephens Center located at 616 North Church Street in Livingston from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Certificates will be awarded to parents attending eight sessions within this series. There is no charge for PCC sessions.
L.B.J. & C. To Close
The L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers and the Central Office will be closed Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Commodities To Be
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Overton County Hanging Limb on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hanging Limb Fire Department in Hanging Limb. Everyone must present a valid UCHRA commodity card in order to receive commodities. Sign up or reprint lost commodities cards will be available at the distribution site.
Meeting At Vol State To Be Held
A Hemp Production meeting will be held at Livingston’s Vol State campus on Friday, Feb. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This meeting will broadcasted from Vol State in Gallatin via zoom to satellite campuses. This meeting will cover state regulations, production and also will feature Hemp processors discussing marketing Hemp. Please call Overton Extension for more information at 823-2735. UT Extension Strawberry Sale To Be Held
Overton Extension is now taking orders for strawberries. Varieties for sale this year are Allstar (large) and Earlieglow (small). Due to the new UT policy, prices will include sale tax. For more information or to place an order, please call 823-2735 or come by the office located at the Joe L. Evins Community Center. Strawberries will in the last week of March. American Legion Dance To Be Held
The American Legion welcomes a new band, Tommy Ross and the TCB from Nashville for an evening of and music on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the American Legion Post in Livingston located at 121 S. Church Street. All dances are family friendly and open to the public. Membership is not necessary. Concessions are available.
Education To Meet
The Overton County Board of Education is to meet at the Central Office on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. with a work session to follow immediately after.
