Library To Forgive Overdue Book Fees

No fines or fees will be added to your account at the Millard-Oakley Public Library if the overdue books are returned from Dec. 17 – 25.

First Day Hike To Be Held By Ranger Neal Weatherly

Start 2019 off on the right foot and join Park Ranger Neal Weatherly for a 1.5 mile hike through beautiful Standing Stone State Park.  The hike will be a moderately difficult hike on uneven train with some elevation changes.  Bring sturdy shoes, water and clothing suitable for the changing Tennessee weather.  We will meet at the park office Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. to embark on our very first adventure of the New Year.

2019 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts Applications To Be Accepted

The application period for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency 2019 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts is Dec. 12 through Jan. 16.Applications are available and will be accepted at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office, or online at gooutdoorstennessee.com website. Applications can be accepted until 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Jan. 16. Mailed applications will not be accepted. The areas available for the hunts are listed on the instruction sheet. Hunters have up to 13 choices, but will be drawn for only one. Applicants may not use the same hunt code more than once. There are a total of 13 hunts listed and five youth-only hunts. No person may apply more than once. A computer drawing will be held to determine the successful applications based on the priority drawing system. Youth hunters (ages 6-16 by the date of the hunt) may submit one application for the regular quota hunt and one application for the youth-only quota hunt.

Garbage Routes To Temporarily Change

Garbage routes in the Town of Livingston will temporarily change in order for the City to observe Christmas.  Trash will not be picked up Dec. 24 – 26. Monday’s route will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 21.  Tuesday’s route will be picked up on Thursday, Dec. 27. Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 28.

Convenience Centers To Close

All convenience centers will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas.

Overton County Commission To Meet

The Overton County Commission is to meet in regular session on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Overton County Courthouse.

American Legion Dance To Be Held

Join the fun as the American Legion features the Take 5 Band for our Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 22. The band will be performing at the American Legion Post in Livingston located at 121 S. Church Street from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. All dances are family friendly and open to the public, membership not necessary. Concessions are available.

Santa Claus To Visit Museum

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be at the Overton County Heritage Museum on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please come by to visit. While you are here, look at the new temporary exhibit of authentic memorabilia of the Civil War.

Booze It And Loose It Campaign Underway

As part of the “Booze It And Lose It Campaign”, the Overton County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) is to increase impaired driving enforcement over the county and will conduct a roadblock on New Year’s Eve.

TDOT To Halt Highway Construction

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is once again halting all lane closure activity on interstates and state highways in anticipation of higher traffic volumes across the state. No temporary lane closures will be allowed for construction on Tennessee roadways beginning at 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.
