Dr. Anthony Abston

Abston Chiropractic Owner-Operator

Celebration of Life Services for Dr. Anthony “Tony” Harold Abston, age 54, of Byrdstown will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 from the chapel of the Livingston Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Campbell officiated. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Tony passed from this life after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018 from the St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. He was born March 16, 1964 in Albany, Kentucky to Gary Earl Abston, and Shirley Sue Perry Neathery. Tony was a 1982 graduate of McGavock High School and went to UT Nashville, then receiving his Doctorate in Chiropractic at Life College in Atlanta. Tony was a member of the Trinity Assembly in Algood. Anyone who knew Tony, understood he was the life of the party, always enjoying life and having a good time no matter the situation. He enjoyed football and Kentucky basketball. Tony was always a sharp dresser, loved being on the lake with his family, and enjoyed classic rock and cooking. Tony may have lived on the lake in Byrdstown, but Livingston was his life. He was very active in the Livingston Rotary Club where he was President in 2010 and helped anyway he could. Tony was the owner-operator of Abston Chiropractic, where he loved his job and the people he treated.

Tony leaves his mother, Shirley Perry Neathery of Byrdstown, TN; sons, Anthony Chad Abston of Gatlinburg, TN, and Colton Perry Abston of Byrdstown, TN; brother, James Michael Cunningham and wife of Nashville, TN; sister, Stephanie Cunningham of Nashville, TN; cousins, Marcie Marple of Nashville, TN, Rachel Davis of Nashville, TN, and Brendon Davis of Nashville; uncle, Joe Craft and wife Pauleese of Sparta, TN, Greg Abston and wife Betty of Albany, Edward Abston of Louisville, KY; aunts, Francis Abston and Linda Phiefer and husband Ed of Florida; father, Gary Abston of Albany, KY.

Wanda H. Dulworth

Wanda H. Dulworth, 58 of Hilham, passed away on Nov. 21 at her home. Funeral services were held on Nov. 25 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Phillip Buck officiated. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery.

She was born in Jackson County on Oct. 22, 1960. She loved her family dearly and made them the center of her life. She also enjoyed collecting coupons.

She was preceded in death by parents, Grover Wilmoth and Ove Ellis Denson; brothers, Lonzo Denson and John Denson; sisters, Betty Thompson, Ozetta Maxwell, Lucille Horn, Katherine Haney and Barbara Moss.

She is survived by husband, Carl D. Dulworth of Hilham; daughters, Crystal Christene Sapp and husband, Josh of Sparta, Wanda Jean Conner and husband, David of Pickett County and Martilla Rose Talos and husband, Daniel of Crossville; sons, John Lee Smith and wife, Briania of Monroe, James Smith of Hemett, Calif., Chris Smith of Smithville and David Denson of Cookeville; sister, Joyce Edwina Tayes and husband, Aaron of Cookeville; brothers, Jerry Denson, of Cookeville, Leon “Butch” Denson of Cookeville, Joe Denson and wife, Sheila of Monterey, Wilmoth Denson of Cookeville, and Roger Denson and wife, Verna Dean of Cookeville; grandchildren, Joseph and Keylee Bartlett, Audrey Sapp, Austin and Devin Conner, Keegan James Smith, Brandon Lee, Zachary and Emma Smith, Parkyr, Jackson and Dakota Smith, Landon, Lucas and Vaden.

 

 

Mary-Peanut Juanella Gray

Mary-Peanut Juanella Dubree Gray, 74 of Livingston, passed away on Nov. 23 at the Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held on Nov. 26 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jon Ledbetter officiated. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Overton County on Sept. 11, 1944. She was a 1962 graduate of Livingston Academy. She worked for over 35 years as the manager of Pacesetters of Livingston, where she loved going to work every single day. Helping others before herself was what she loved to do. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing and crafts.

She was preceded in death by parents, Hollis Milton Stokley Dubree and Rosie Mae Fletcher Dubree; husband, James Donald Gray; and brothers, Allen Dubree and Randal Dubree.

She is survived by son, Tim Gray and wife, Linda of Rickman; grandson, Jared Gray of Knoxville and Jacob Gray of Rickman; and best friend, Bill Beason of Livingston.

Pallbearers were Chris Speck, Jared Gray, Jacob Gray, Tony Byers, Russell Gray, Greg Gray, Dicky Mitchell and Jerry Copeland.

Honorary Pallbearer was Thurman Speck.

Hazel Speck Chettle

Standing Stone State Park

Hazel Garrett Speck Chettle, 87 of Livingston, passed away on Nov. 18 at the Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Nov. 24 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Overton County on Sept. 8, 1931. She worked for the Standing Stone State Park for many years. She enjoyed going out to eat and loved her family. She loved her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Ethel White Garrett; husbands, A.B. Speck and George Chettle.

She is survived by daughter, Louise Speck of Livingston; sister, Jewel Richardson Roulhac and husband, Bishop Emmanuel Roulhac of South Gate, Mich; and several nieces and nephews.

Flora Imogene Moredock

Flora Imogene Moredock, age 92, a Jacksonville, FL resident and Timothy, TN native was born September 22, 1926 and passed away November 21, 2018 following an extended illness.

She was a homemaker and daughter of the late Pendy and Estie Velma Bilbrey Peterman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Cleston Lee Moredock; brothers, Lester Howard Peterman and Ken Peterman; and sister, Maxine Terry.

Mrs. Moredock is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Rosemary Moredock of Jacksonville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Pat Doolittle of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and spouses, Justin Moredock of Raleigh, NC, Devin and Cathy Barber of Jacksonville, Eric and Brandi Doolittle of Columbus, GA and Robert and Ella Doolittle, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Mary Ruth Peterman of Timothy, TN; sisters-in-law, Anita Peterman of Gallatin, TN and Pat Peterman of Charleston, SC; and numerous other family members.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 in High Funeral Home’s chapel with Kevin Deason to officiate. Interment will follow in Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at High’s.
