Donald Leroy Keith
Donald Leroy Keith, 85 of Allons, passed away on Sept. 22 from the Overton County Health and Rehab. Private graveside services were held on Sept. 24 from the McFerrin Cemetery in Allons. Pastor Daniel Graham and Pastor John Hanson officiated. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born in Harlem, NY on April 18, 1933. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, where he became a Nurse Anesthetist. He was a member of Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved the Lord, enjoyed Bible Study, helping others, bird watching, gardening and playing the piano. He was an amateur photographer and loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Watson and Lois Jackson Keith; infant son, Little Donald; sisters, Joan Keith, June Carney-Robinson and Jacquline Lewis; foster sister, Jean “Penny” Ingram.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet Moseley Keith of Allons; daughters, Karmen Keith of Allons, and Lori Fullard and husband, Larry of Orangeburg, SC; foster daughter, Sarah Smith and husband, Jerome of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sisters, Jeanett Du-bois of New Orleans, La. and Lois Ashburne of Bowie, Md.; grandchildren, Larry R. Fullard, Lamar Fullard and Kyron Hasse; and host of family members, loved ones and friends.
Christine Beaty Norrod
Christine Beaty Norrod, 92 of Henderson County, NC and formerly of Overton County, passed away on June 26 in Henderson, N.C. Graveside services were held on Saturday, Sept. 29 from the Beaty Cemetery. Rev. Laura Johnson officiated. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
She was born in Overton County on April 29, 1926. She was Methodist in Faith and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rissie Dishman Beaty; and son, Jerry Norrod.
She is survived by her daughters, Jill Norrod Turner and husband, Stan and Judy Norrod Pate and husband, Forrest; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Maryann E. Rigdon
Maryann E. Pree Rigdon, 90 of Cookeville, passed away on Sept. 22 from the Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at a later date in Mason City, Ill. Speck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born March 24, 1928 in San Jose, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George H. and Grace Kleen Pree.; husband, Loren Dean Rigdon; sister, Bess Graham; brothers, George Pree, Jr., Phillip Pree and Robert Pree.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Copper and husband, Jim of Monroe; son, Doug Rigdon and wife, Debbie of Greensboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Lindsay McElroy and husband, Cory, Christopher Rigdon and wife, Coleen, Colette Boyko and husband, Matt and Jeffrey Copper and wife, Leigh; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jimmy Ray Curtis
Jimmy Ray Curtis, 63 of Allons, passed away on Sept. 25 at his residence. Celebration of Life services were held on Sept. 30 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Caleb Simpson officiated.
He was born in Arkansas on March 30, 1955. He worked as a Carpenter in residential building. He was member of the Allons Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, love nature, the woods and enjoyed farming. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Susan Mayo Curtis; sister, Vicki Martin; brother, Jeff Curtis; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Curtis of Allons; daughters, Jamie Curtis of Allons, Kathy Wright and husband, Jacob of Rickman; son, Michael Curtis and wife, Marie of Love Joy, Ga.; sisters, Doris Bagley and husband, Rick of Duluth, Ga., Rena McElroy and husband, Drew of Ballston Spa, NY, and Mary VanTassell and husband, Mark of Duluth, Ga.; brothers, James Curtis of Buford, Ga., Lonnie Curtis of Marietta, Ga. and Louis Curtis of Greenbrier, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Garry Lynn Kem
Garry Lynn Kem, 63 of Whitehouse, passed away on Sept. 23 at the Skyline Medical Center. Graveside services were held on Sept. 29 from the Allens Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Roger Phillips officiated. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born in Princeton, Ky. on Aug. 5, 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. and Mary Lois Ricks Kem; and wife, Pam Phillips Kem.
He is survived by his brother, Donnie Kem and wife, Kimberly of Yadkinville, NC; and aunt, Mable Burns of Princeton, Ky.
Bruce Edward Ledford, age 78 of Farmersville, Texas, formerly of Livingston, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 14, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born on January 31, 1940 in Overton County, Tennessee to the late Edward and Lerion Ledford. He graduated from Livingston Academy Class of 1958. Mr. Ledford was retired from Mullins Lumber Company. He served his communities in many ways. Mr. Ledford served as a volunteer for the Alpine County Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Overton County School Board from 1969-1970 and then again from 1972-1976. Additionally, he served as an Overton County Commissioner from 2006-2017. He was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Alpine, Tennessee where he faithfully served as deacon for 54 years. Mr Ledford enjoyed reading his Bible, crossword puzzles, yard work, volunteering and helping others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Allie Ruble Ledford of Farmersville, Texas; his children: James Edward Ledford and wife Shawn of Richardson, TX; Kimberly Dian Ledford Lilley of Sanford, NC; and Daniel Edward Ledford and wife Michelle of Farmersville, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Ledford of Monroe, TN; three sisters: Barbara Eganey of Livingston, TN; Judith Brown of Livingston, TN and Teresa Cantrell of Livingston, TN. He is also survived by grandchildren: Ryan and Lindsay Ledford of McKinney, TX; Lauren Ledford of Garland, TX; Corinthia Lilley of Garland, TX; Allysha Lilley of Sanford, NC; Sidney Lilley of Sanford, NC; Miles Lilley of Sanford, NC; Josh and Amelia Wickes, Haden Ledford, and Ashley Ledford all of Farmersville, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mark Lilley and a granddaughter, Danielle Neff.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Alpine, Tennessee. Burial followed at Dugan Smith Cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
