Garrett, Looper Are Re-Elected

Overton County residents gave their vote of confidence to several incumbent local officeholders as the candidate of their choice during the Overton County General Election and the statewide primaries held Thursday, Aug. 2. But there will be some new changes, as four new commissioners were elected into office.

Still unofficial as the Overton County Election Commission must first certify votes, the election results saw a voter turnout of nearly 39 percent of the 13,532 registered voters. Out of that total, absentee and early votes accounted for 2,687 votes of the registered voter figure, with 2,587 of those decisions cast on Election Day.
