James E. “Jim” Dodson
James E. “Jim” Dodson, 74 of Lebanon, Ind., and formerly of Overton County passed away on June 3 at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Ind. Graveside services were held on June 12 in the Dodson Chapel Cemetery. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Aug. 7, 1943 in Tenn. He graduated from Zionsville High School. He worked as a foreman for Allison’s Transmission for over 40 years. He enjoyed golfing, Eagles club and cards, fishing and bowling.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Jessie (Warden) Dodson.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Pegan Dodson of Lebanon; daughters, Nicole Lynn Dodson and Tanya Lea Dodson, both of Westfield; brother, Earl Dodson of Heritage Lake; and sisters, Geri Giles of Lebanon and Maxine Dodson of Columbus, Ohio.
Mildred E. Smith
Mildred E. Ridge Smith, 73 of the Timothy Community, passed away on June 9 from the Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on June 12 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Donald Bryant and Jerry Paul Bryant officiated. Interment followed in the Good Hope Cemetery.
She was born in the Neely’s Crossroads Community on May 22, 1945. She was a member of the Lake Avenue Church of Christ in Celina. She enjoyed going to yard sales and finding a bargain. She loved her family very dearly and would do anything she could to help them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Fred and Zora Ella Burchett Ridge; husband, John Thomas “J.T.” Smith; sisters, Bonnie Lee Stevens and Belvajean Nivens; brothers, Sherman Ray Ridge, Frank Henry “Mutt” Ridge and Mack Harmon Ridge.
She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Smith and Rebecca Owens and husband, Robert all of the Timothy Community; son, Tommy Smith of Allons; grandchildren, Brandi Savage and husband, John, Ashley Smith, Josh Smith, Jonathan Owens and wife, Tristan, MacKenzie Owens, Zander Owens and Logan Owens; great grandchildren, Madison, Kaylynn, Traylin, Brayden, Zoey, Alisia and Paxton Smith; brothers, Fred Houston Ridge and Lonnie Russell Ridge both of Clay County; also several nieces and nephews.
Delores Gaye Copeland Stephens Brawl
Delores Gaye Copeland Stephens Brawl, 78 of Jamestown, passed away on June 7 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held on June 9 at the Stephens Cemetery. Bro. Ronald Whited officiated. The Mundy Funeral Home in Jamestown was in charge of the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Burton Stephens; parents, Jimmy and Leida Copeland; son, Kedith Clanc Stephens; brothers, James and Billy Ray Copeland; and sister, SueAnn Copeland Sells.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Brawl; daughter, Susan Stephens Sidwell and husband, Josh; brother, George Stephen Copeland; grandchildren, Keith Davis, Michael Davis and wife, Samatha, Will Sidwell and Lance Stephens and wife, April; great-grandchildren, Lainey and Chloe Stephens and Jake and Jackson Conaster.
Pallbearer were Donald Winningham, Lance Stephens, Josh Sidwell, Michael Davis, Keith Davis and Will Sidwell.
Geneva Mason, 91 of Owsley County, Ky., passed away on June 5 at the Pickett County Care and Rehab Center in Byrdstown. Funeral services were held on June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Booneville, Ky. Rev. Terry Sandlin officiated. Interment followed in the Shepherd Memorial Cemetery in Booneville, Ky. The Searcy and Strong Funeral Home of Booneville, Ky. and the chapel of Brown’s Funeral Home of Byrdstown was in charge of the arrangements.
She was a retired school teacher of the Owsley County School System for 43 years, a homemaker and a loving mother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Booneville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seaber and Nettie Eversole; husband, Roy Mason; son, Gary Mason; great-grandchild, Gabriel Mason; sister, Marie McKinney; and brother, Clyde Eversole.
She is survived by son, Dr. Larry Mason and wife, Gina of Livingston; grandchildren, Michael Mason and wife, Leslie Kaye, Chad Mason and wife, Shawda, Eric Mason and wife, Misty, all of Booneville, Ky.; Luke Mason and wife, Alison, Lance Mason and wife, Rochelle, Lindy Lynn and husband, Jack, all of Cookeville; great-grandchildren, Mickayla, Michael, Bradon, Presley, Landon, Rory, Erica, Rylee, Lezak, Landry, Evie, Pryce and Luie; sister, Lela Bishop and husband, Dale of Booneville, Ky., and several relatives and friends.
