Senior Community Service Employment Program To Be Held

UCHRA invites anyone 55 years or older who meets the eligibility guidelines to be a part of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This program provides on-the-job training and offers twenty hours per week at the current minimum wage. Advanced Master Beef Class 2018 To Be Held

Overton, Pickett and Jackson counties will be conducting Advanced Master Beef Classes July 28 and Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Joe L. Evins Community Center in Livingston. This class will cover numerous topics on beef production and also will enable beef producers 50 percent cost share or maximum benefits with Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement programs. Call Overton Extension at 823-2735 for information or stop by Joe L. Evins Community Center to pick up a registration form.

Middle School Girls’ Soccer Tryouts To Be Held

Middle School Girls’ Soccer tryouts will be held Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dale Hollow Soccer Fields. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paper work and please have a current physical. This is for girls that will be entering grades 5 through 8. Please bring cleats and shin guards.

L.A. Class Of 1965 Reunion To Be Held

Livingston Academy class of –65 will have their yearly reunion at Standing Stone Park Friday, May 18. We will meet at shelter number 5 by the dam at 4 p.m. For more info, call Gerald Maynord at 931-319-0725.

Lawn and Turfgrass Management Class To Be Held

Overton Extension and the Millard Vaughn Oakley Public Library will be conducting a lawn and turfgrass management class May 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the library conference room. The class will cover types of grasses, establishing lawns, soils, fertilization, pest, weed control and lawn maintenance. Call the Extension office at 823-2735 to register for this free educational event.

NALC To Conduct National Food Drive

Leave a donation of non-perishable goods next to their mailbox before the delivery of the mail on May 12. Letter carriers will collect these food donations and will be distributed to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tenn. and its network of Partner Agencies throughout 46 counties in Middle and West Tenn., ensuring that all donated food remains in the county in which it is donated.

Hydrant Flushing To Be Held

The Livingston Fire Department along with the Town of Livingston Water Department will be flushing hydrants from May 14 through May 18. Citizens may experience low or no water pressure in higher elevations. If any problems occur, contact Town of Livingston Water Department at 823-1269. The procedure is done to assure that hydrants are working properly and to assist the Water Department in obtaining chlorine readings.

Benefit For American Legion To Be Held

The American Legion Building Post 4 is holding a free dance benefit at Livingston City Park on May 12 from noon through 7 p.m. The bands featuring the event are Slick Nickel Band, 1 Eyd Dawg Band and Last Resort Band. Concessions, face painting, silent auction and raffle items are available. In the case of rain, the event will be held at American Legion Post, 121 S. Church Street.
