Roy Dale Wakefield

Construction Worker

Roy Dale Wakefield, 58 of the Free Communion Community, passed away on Feb. 19 at Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Feb. 23 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Duke officating. Interment followed in the Daniels Cemetery.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1959 in Detroit, Mich. He was a 1977 graduate of Livingston Academy and a residential construction worker. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the computer. He loved people, music and being in nature.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bradley and Bessie Garrett Ledbetter and Ambrose and Lillie King Wakefield.

Surviving relatives include his parents, Barnie “Moe” and Joyce Wakefield of Livingston; sister, Sandy Wakefield of Ann Arbor, Mich.; uncles, J.B. Ledbetter and wife Denise of Livingston and Carl Ledbetter and wife Janice of Livingston.

 

Larry Dewayne Vaughn

U.S. Marines

Larry Dewayne Vaughn, 56 of Gainesboro, passed away on Feb. 25. Funeral services were held on Feb. 26 with Bro. Harold Walker officiating. Interment followed in the Highland Cemetery. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1961 in Anderson, Ind. He was a member of the Mount Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson, Ind. He served as a United States Marine.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aron Vaughn; and brother, Doug Vaughn.

Surviving relatives include his daughters, Brianna and Olivia Vaughn; mother, Mary Vaughn; and sister, Brenda Thomas and husband Dwight.

 

Edith Denton Crabtree

Edith Denton Crabtree, 88 of Livingston, passed away on Feb. 19 at Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Feb. 25 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Denton Hummel officiating. Interment followed in the Miller Cemetery.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1929 in Overton County. She worked as an auto part manufacturer. She enjoyed quilting and yard selling. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Rosie Hammock Denton; husband, Willie Crabtree; sons, Paul Edward Crabtree and Jamie Crabtree; and daughters, Willa Dean Garrett and Pam Crabtree.

Surviving relatives include her son, David Crabtree and wife Donna of the Hardy’s Chapel Community; daughters, Wanda Greer and husband Danny of Rickman, Maxine Hynes of Livingston, Kathy Savage of Livingston and Cindy McDermott and husband Bobby of Monroe; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

 

Dr. Ronald Keith Carr

Teacher

Dr. Ronald Keith Carr, 76 of Cookeville and formerly of Livingston, passed away on Feb. 19 at his home. Funeral services were held on Feb. 23 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Pickens officiating. Interment followed in the Eckel Cemetery in Rickman.

He was born on April 23, 1941 in Overton County. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a farmer, a 1970 graduate of Tennessee Tech, a 1985 graduate of University of Tennessee, an analytical researcher at Vanderbilt and a teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie V. and Ora Edith Benson Carr; daughter, Eva Lynnette Carr; and brother, Donald Lee Carr.

Surviving relatives include his brother, Billy Joe Carr and wife Gail of Alpine; grandson, Michael Carr McMillan of Franklin; former wife and long time friend, Gay Carr Weaver and husband Richard Weaver; son-in-law, Scott A. McMillian of Nashville; nieces, Lisa Gay Carr of Texas and Lorelei Rutledge and Heaven Harvey of Colorado; nephews, Donny L. Carr of Texas and Dane Luckfelt of Colo.

 

George Junior Stover

Machine Operator

George Junior Stover, 71 of Livingston, passed away at the Overton County Health and Rehab on Feb. 22 with his family by his side. Funeral services were held on Feb. 25 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Marty Carr officiating. Interment followed in the Cash Cemetery.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1946 in Livingston. He was a machine operator in a sawmill for years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Elise Ledbetter Stover; daughter, Kimberly Stover; and brothers, Bobby Stover and Roy Stover.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Stover; daughter, Laura Kaye Stover; step daughters, Linda Sue Smith and Brenda Jean Eldridge; son, Mark Anthony Stover; step son, Jimmy Smith; sisters, Betty Carr and Linda Henson; brothers, Jerry Stover and Georgie Stover; special great granddaughters, Brittany Ann Hancock, Tiffany Brooke Hancock and Whitney Love Hancock; grandchildren, Heather Stover, Misty Stover, Ashley Garrett, Matthew Papesh, Josh Stover and Brandon Stover; and several great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included: Ron Wheeler, Bill Shoemake, Sean Boles, Matt Papesh, Josh Hargis and Robert Newman.
