The Livingston Middle School (LMS) boys and girls basketball teams made it to the big dance in the James C. Haile State Invitational Tournament last week, but both squads came up a bit short in the finals. And with an unusual twist, both Livingston teams faced both squads from David Lipscomb in the championship games – something that rarely, if ever, happens.
The Lady Tigers of Livingston were first up in the AA girls championship game played last Wednesday. The Lady Tigers came out strong and jumped on top quickly, leading 8-5 at the end of the first period. The lead was short lived, though, as Lipscomb made adjustments. Lipscomb led 14-13 at the half. The third period was all Lipscomb, as the team went into the fourth period leading 27-18. The fourth quarter belonged to Livingston, though, as the Lady Tigers fought back to keep it close. In the end Lipscomb proved to be too much and won the game 31-24.
