Donald R. Staggs

Bus Driver

Donald R. Staggs, 82 of Allons passed away Dec. 22 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Nolan Cantrell officiating.  Interment followed in the Miller Cemetery.

He was born in Overton County on June 22, 1935. He was a bus driver for the Overton County School System and Baptist in faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Velma Gore Staggs; loving wife, Betty Staggs; son, Billy Ray Staggs; brother, Ronnie “Buddy” Staggs; and sisters, Jimmie Mae Cravens and Janie Maynord.

Surviving relatives include his son, Donnie Staggs and wife Monica of Rickman; daughters, Debra Deck and husband Terry of Alpine and Donna Bournes of Livingston; grandchildren, Todd Bournes, Chad Bournes and wife Jamie, Brad Bournes, Cody Deck and wife Ashley, Billy Staggs and Travis Staggs; nine great grandchildren; and brothers, Kenny Staggs and wife Connie of Allons, Danny Staggs and wife Wilma and Jackie Staggs and wife Kay of Allons.
Pallbearers included: Joey Staggs, Steven Bournes, Chad Bournes, Brad Bournes, Cody Deck and Todd Bournes.

Nell Marie Fleming Sisson

Retail Clerk

Nell Marie Fleming Sisson, 83 of Livingston, passed away Dec. 24 at Overton County Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held Jan. 3 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating.  Interment followed in the Holly Springs Cemetery.
She was born in Overton County on May 6, 1934. She worked as a retail clerk for many years and was a member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eula Fleming; father of her children, R.D. Carter; sister, Lillian Brigode; and brothers, Thomas Fleming and David Fleming.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Marilyn Carter of Anchorage, AK; Carol Parr and husband Scott of Livingston and Helena Gish and Husband Bud of Anchorage, AK; brother, Edward JR. Fleming of Livingston; and grandchildren, Mandy Ford, Phillip Carter, Adrian Doremire, Brandi Dutton, Helena Dara, and Chelsey Nickerson; great-grandchildren, Bryce Chelini, Johnny Womack, Ryan Ford, Damien Harris, Elijah Doremire, Mallory Doremire, Bella Dutton, and Charli Dutton.

Pallbearers included: Glen Ford, Robert Bagshaw, Scott Parr, Johnny Womack, Bryce Chelini, and Adrian Doremire.

 

Joe Douglas Collins

Machine Operator

Joe Douglas Collins, 57 of Cookeville, passed away on Dec. 21 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Dec. 23 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. John Mabrey and Bro. Denton Hummel officiating. Interment followed in the Fellowship Cemetery in Allons Community.

He was born in Overton County on May 25, 1960. He was a machine operator at Parker Seals for many years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Collins; and brother, Jerry Collins.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Dian Collins; mother, Oleta Collins and Luke Coffee; children: Kyle and wife Casey Collins of Rickman, Adam Collins and Amanda Belyew of Goodlesttsville, Hunter, Hannah and Jessica Dailey of Rickman; grandchildren: Connor and Kieran Collins; cousin, Elaine and Milton Maxfield; aunts and uncles, Truman and Reva Brown and Marie and Richard Sullivan; special friends, Jayson Ledbetter, Dwayne York, Dustin Vaughn, Johnny Lee, Travis Duke and many more friends; the Parker Seals family; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included: Johnny Lee, Travis Duke, Dustin Vaughn, Jayson Ledbetter, Kevin Collins and Dewayne York.

 

Dennis Leroy Keesling

Wrecker Operator

Dennis Leroy Keesling, 74 of Livingston, passed away on Dec. 20. Funeral services were held Dec. 23 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Nick Turner officiating. Interment followed in the Cash Cemetery in Livingston.

He was born on July 26, 1943 in Anderson, Ind. He was a wrecker operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Rogers Keesling; daughter, Christy Baldwin; and brothers, Cecil, Bobby and Dick Keesling.

Surviving relatives include his sons, Scott and Denny Lee Keesling; brothers, Tim Keesling and wife Jerri of Anderson, Ind., Dean Keesling and Larry Keesling of Anderson, Ind.; sisters, Rosie Flatford and husband Carl of Knoxville, Betty Crose of Beford, Ind., Sandy McGill and husband Bob of Midtown, Ind., and Linda Spore and husband Jerry of Ind., seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included: Scotty Keesling.

 

John Haggard Beason Sr.

John Haggard Beason, Sr., 74 of Monroe, passed away on Dec. 1 at the Unity Medical Center in Manchester. Funeral services were held Dec. 4 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Brett Gibbons officiating. Interment followed in the Nelson Cemetery located in Taylor Crossroads.

He was born in Monroe on April 3, 1943. He worked as a masonry in construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Washington and Clara Jane (Garrett) Beason.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Evelyn Beason; daughter, Evelyn Marie Nowell and her husband Mark; sons, John Haggard Beason, Jr., Tony Ray Beason and his wife Tammy; sisters, Lizzie Mae Reed, Faye Taylor, Brenda Garrett, Janie Anderson and Linda Dishman; grandchildren: Cory Lynn Vaughn, Heidi Vaughn Schimpf, Kasey Ray Beason, Kalin Paul Beason, Lilly Ann Beason, Justin Dewayne Nowell and Naomi Nicole Winningham; great grandchildren, Hudson Nowell, Maddie Nowell, Zane Winningham, Keylex Ray Beason and Keyleigh Emily Beason.

 

Ramey MC Pennington

Ramey MC Pennington, 87 of Hilham, passed away on Dec. 19 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Dec. 22 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Billy Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Aaron’s Chapel Cemetery in Hilham.

She was born in Hilham on May 17, 1930. She was a homemaker and attended Aaron’s Chapel Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Boles Phillips; husband, Lester Pennington; four sisters; two brothers; and son-in-law, Jerry Green.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Betty Green and Barbara and husband Mike Tharp; five grandchildren and spouses; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included: Jeffrey Green, Brandon Pincheon, Greg Phillips, Michael Tharp, Chris Huddleston and Dylan Phillips.

Edith Nadine Robbins

Edith Nadine Robbins, 78 of Livingston, passed away on Dec. 16. A Memorial service was held on Dec. 20 at the Christ Church Presbyterian in Alpine with Bro. David Beaty officiating. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Livingston on Aug. 24, 1939. She worked in the school system for 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elma Smith.

Surviving relatives include her husband of 60 years, Herman Max Robbins; son, Kevin Robbins and wife Donna; daughter, Karen Newkirk and husband Dave; granddaughters, Nicole Askevold and wife Ruth, Sherri Robbins; great granddaughter, Elizabeth LaBean; and great grandsons: Jaron Rolfe and Alex Rolfe.

 

Bobbie Jean Garrett

Bobbie Jean Garrett, 86 of Livingston, passed away on Dec. 7 at the Overton Co. Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Dec. 10 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Marlin Weaver officiating. Interment followed in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Livingston on March 3, 1931. She worked in child care. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Sylvia (Price) Smith; husband, Roy Garrett; son, Donnie Garrett; brothers, David Smith, Jr. and Kenneth Smith; and sister, Bonnie Hawkins.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Bonnie Jean Wilborn; daughter in-law, Doris Garrett; nephew, David Smith; nieces, Rebecca Smith and Sylvia Smith; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers included: Kevin Garrett, Jake Garrett, David Garrett, Jamie Garrett, Chuck Garrett and Hunter Garrett. Josh Wilborn was an honorary pallbearer.

 

Willie Fletcher

Willie Fletcher, 89 of Livingston, passed away on Dec. 15 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Dec. 18 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Randy Pickens officiating. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Livingston on Oct. 18, 1928. He served as a Deacon at the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. He loved God and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Jessie (Mullins) Fletcher; and brothers, Wylie “Bud” Fletcher, Charlie Fletcher.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Irene Fletcher; son, Terry Fletcher and wife Barbara; daughter, Peggy Alcorn and husband Neil; sister, Betty Smith and husband James; brother, Johnny Fletcher, Jr. and wife Juanita; three grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

Pallbearers included: Christopher Fletcher, Michael Alcorn, Phillip Alcorn, Steve Smith, Bobby Chilton and Don Bornemon. Honorary pallbearers included: Johnny Kirkpatrick, Clinton Kerr, Doug Reagan; the Deacons of Fellowship Baptist Church and his nephews.
