Each year for the holidays, some parents and guardians are considered fortunate to be able to give their children in their household toys and gifts for the season. Others, unfortunately, are not so lucky. So each year the Overton County Sheriff’s Department has an annual toy drive around the holidays to help out with the families who aren’t as materialistically or financially well off. And that time of year is here.
“Some of them may have five kids to one family,” said Overton County Sheriff’s Department records clerk Tonia Butler. “But last year it was close to 80 kids (who received toys).”
