The Overton County Education Committee approved an amendment to the general purpose school budget at their meeting last Thursday that will allow the school system to purchase Chromebooks for elementary students.
“We did receive some extra funding from the state on a couple of grants that we are excited about. That’ll help buy some equipment for a health science class. That was $124,000,” said Board of Education budget director Heather Melton. “And we got an IDA Discretionary grant for $36,000 to help buy Chromebooks.”
