Wayne Allen Berg

Wayne Allen Berg, 66, of Hilham, passed away Aug. 28 at his home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1951 in Billings, Montana. He enjoyed his stewardship of his third generation farm in Hilham. He always looked forward to the summers where he would come down and visit his grandparents and later in life his parents on the farm. Wayne served his country in the Army carrying on a family tradition. He held several degrees and was proud of his accomplishments. He worked for many years as a senior marketing officer for Aetna Health Insurance. His passion was golfing and keeping an impeccable yard.

He is preceded in death by parents, Hilmer Harley and Etta Lou Ayers Berg; brother, Gary Loyd Berg; and grandparents, Herman E. and Nannie Cooper Ayers.

He is survived by wife of 36 years, Linda Vitagliano Berg of Hilham; sons, Wayne Berg Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio and Shawn Dryden of Hilham; and daughter, Amy Dryden of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hope Franklin Pardue

Hope Franklin Pardue, 67, of Amherst, Ohio and formerly of Overton County, passed away on Aug. 29 at her home in Ohio. Graveside services were held on Sept. 2 from the Cope Cemetery in Pickett County.

She was born Jan. 1, 1951 in Overton County. She worked for many years as a custodian for the Putnam County School System. She loved and enjoyed being around her family, going to yard sales, and watching her mystery shows on TV, especially NCIS. She was a member of the Living Hope Church.

She is preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Ruth Ledbetter Franklin; husband, Jack Pardue; grandson, Benjamin Allen Smith; and her first husband and father of her children, Arthur Smith.

She is survived by sons, James Douglas Smith and wife Vicky of Cookeville, Wardrey Ray Smith of Cookeville and Charles Phillip Smith and wife Laura Lee of Amherst, Ohio; grandchildren, Nikki Campbell, Emily Smith, Josh Smith, Jacob Neal, Matthew Smith and Adam Smith; great grandchildren, Ryland Campbell, Leland Campbell, Kassidy Smith and Grayson Smith; brothers, Terry Franklin and wife Erma of Ohio and Gary Ray Franklin and wife Debbie of Rickman; sisters, Loretta Savage of Livingston, Jean Cantrell and husband Harold of Anderson, Ind., Carol Gillentine of Westland, Mich. and Ruth Ann Richmond of Cookeville.

Pallbearers were David Rich, Rhonda Dailey, Scott Parsons, Josh Parsons, James Parsons and Greg Parsons.
