School Board To Meet
The Overton County Board of Education will meet in regular session Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the A.H. Roberts School as directed by the chairman, Mike Gilpatrick. The work session will begin at 6 p.m. with the board meeting immediately following.
Relay For Life Meeting Set
The next organizational meeting for the Overton County Relay For Life is set for Thursday, Feb. 23, at Tanimura and Antle, the lettuce plant in the Highway 111 Industrial Park. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and is open to event leadership, team captains and anyone interested in becoming involved in the 2017 Relay.
The 2017 Overton County Relay For Life is scheduled for June 3 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the new Central Park. The theme this year is “Lights, Camera, CURE!” For more information, call Dianne Ledbetter at 260-7719.
Commodities To Be
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Overton County on Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Livingston Church of Christ, 215 E. Main St. Everyone must present a valid UCHRA commodity card in order to receive commodities. To sign up or reprint lost commodities cards contact your local UCHRA office.
Convenience Centers Closed
All Overton County Convenience Centers will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, for Presidents Day. They will re-open on Tuesday with regular business hours.
Head Start To Close
The L.B.J.& C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers and the Central Office will be closed Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents Day.
Beekeepers To Meet
Overton County Beekeepers will be having their monthly meeting on Feb. 16 at the Millard Oakley Public Library at 6:30 p.m.. Everyone is welcome.

Veterans To Meet
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Myers-Zollicoffer Camp 1990 monthly business meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at the VFW Post 5062 on 103 W. Henson Street in Livingston. If you have a Confederate ancestor or questions call 931-783-3767.
Parenting Class Offered
The 2017 Spring Series I Parent-Child Connection classes, sponsored by the Stephens Center, will be held on Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 616 N. Church St. There is no charge for attending the sessions. The topic of the Feb. 15 meeting is Why Parents Spank Their Children. For more information, call 823-6432.
Volunteers Being Sought
Aging Services for the Upper Cumberland, Inc. is looking for people who are empathetic, diplomatic and skilled communicators to be volunteer ombudsmen. Ombudsmen are assigned to a specific long-term care facility, working to ensure that the resident’s rights are being protected. They dedicate three hours per week to the job.
