Board Of Education To Meet

The Overton County Board of Education will meet in regular session tonight, March 8, at the Central Education Office as directed by the Chairman Mike Gilpatrick. The board meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with the work session immediately following.


Parenting Classes Held

The 2016 Spring Series I Parent-Child Connection classes, sponsored by the Stephens Center, will be held on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 616 N. Church St. There is no charge for attending the sessions. The March 9 meeting will be a make up session. For more information, call 823-6432.


Relative Caregiver Support Group To Meet

A support group meeting for relatives that are caring for relative children will be held March 10 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Overton County Chamber of Commerce. Fall Prevention Workshop Scheduled

A “stepping on” falls prevention workshop will conducted in the near future at the Overton County Senior Citizens Center. This is an educational workshop for seniors designed to help prevent falls. For more information or to sign up, call 823-1268.


Library Events Scheduled

Upcoming events at the library include Preschool Storytime on March 10 at 10:30 a.m. and the Friends of the Library monthly meeting on March 10 at 11:30 a.m.


THP Checkpoints To Be Held

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on March 11 from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Highway 84 South. They will be conducting a driver license checkpoint on March 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Highway 164.


Library Events Scheduled

Upcoming events at the library include the Crafters Club on March 15 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the Family Caregivers meeting on March 15 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the Library Board Meeting on March 15 at 4:30 p.m.


CPR Classes Scheduled

Livingston Regional Hospital will offer AHA hands only CPR to the community quarterly. The classes will be held at the Livingston Regional Hospital Education Center. The next class is scheduled for March 14 at 3 p.m. Bridgett Jones, AHA Training Center Coordinator, will coordinate the classes. Participants will enroll in the class by calling Jones at 931-403-2123.


Sons of Confederate  Veterans To Meet

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Myers-Zollicoffer Camp 1990, monthly meeting will be March 17 in the VFW building at 103 W. Henson St. in Livingston.  The theme is “Ladies Night Out” with members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy as guest speakers. The UDC is the oldest patriotic lineage organization in the country. Meeting begins at 7 p.m. If you have a Confederate ancestor or have questions, call 931-783-3767.


Head Start Accepting Applications

L.B.J. & C. Head Start is currently accepting applications to provide free comprehensive child development services to children three to five years of age from low-income families in a full day program. Services are also offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. For more information, call 823-1727.


Overton County Fair

The Overton County Fair will be July 14-23. The fair book ads have been mailed out. If you want your ad or want to change it, mail it back by April 1. If you are a new business and would like an ad, call Rithia Winningham at 510-6624 or Vickie White at 397-4901.
