James “Puggy” Strong

James “Puggy” Strong, 80, of Celina, passed away Jan. 14 at Mabry Healthcare and Rehab. Funeral services were held Jan. 16 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home with Bro. David Threet officiating. Interment followed in the Grover Rich Cemetery. James “Puggy” Strong was born May 4, 1934 in Clay County. He was a contractor and a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Maxie Denton Strong; daughter, Freda King; and grandchildren, Jason Cunningham and Natalie Strong. Surviving relatives include his wife, Martha Ann Strong; sons, James Ronald Strong and wife Cindy, Donald Strong and wife Patsy, Ricky E. Strong and wife Connie; grandchildren, Kevin, Micheal, Nathan, Wesley, Brock and Olivia Strong, Andy and Larissa King, Jeff Cunningham, Atha Stinson, TJ McAlpin; eight great grandchildren; and special friend, Samuel L. Goney.

James Mayo
James Mayo, 78, of Red Boiling Springs passed away Jan. 17 at his residence. Graveside services and interment were held Jan. 19 from the Leonard Cemetery with E.C. Meadows officiating.
James Mayo was born Dec. 12, 1936 in Marshall County, Ala. He retired from Right Lopez in Gallatin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Ethel Collins Mayo; granddaughters, Heather and Sarah Mayo; and brothers, Ralph and Carl Mayo. Surviving relatives include his wife, Ruby Morris; daughters, Donna Privett and Kristy Blankenship and husband Tony; sons, Timmy Mayo, Daniel Mayo and wife Keista, Mike Mayo, Patrick Mayo and wife Angel and Joey Mayo and companion Linda; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Luke  Hollaway, 92, passed away Jan. 14 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Stafford and Bro. David Sisco officiating. Interment followed at John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery. Luke Hollaway was born Dec. 23, 1922 in Jackson County. He was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Hollaway and Rosie D. Caruthers Hollaway; wife, Molene Hollaway; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Donna Hollaway; son-in-law, Charles E. Jones; grandson, Chris Hollaway; great grandchild, J.E. Pippin; and brother, Harold Dean Hollaway. Surviving relatives include son, Jr. (Dale) Hollaway, of Whitleyville; daughter, Rosa Jones Gore, of Whitleyville; grandchildren, Tammy (Tim) Stafford and Danny Ray (Teresa) Jones, all of Whitleyville, Carol Ann (Mike) Carr and Linda Sue (Greg) Pippin, all of Baxter; and Lisa Braddon, of Sparta; and great grandchildren, Heather, Eric and Amber Stafford, Bethany and Alexis Jones, Lacey Pippin and Justin Carr.
