James L. Crutchfield
James L. Crutchfield, 74, of Cookeville passed away at his home in Cookeville. Funeral services were handled by Speck Funeral Home.
James L. Crutchfield was born on April 14, 1937 in Madison County. He was a veteran for the U.S. Army and a delivery man for a florist.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar Farris and Thelma Vilena Staggs Crutchfield.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, LaVerne Crutchfield of Cookeville; sons Joseph H. Crutchfield and James F. Crutchfield and his wife Debora all of Cookeville; daughter, Janice Gurley and husband Michael of Pullman, MI; brothers, William Crutchfield and wife Brenda of Brownsville and Jesse Crutchfield and wife Ursula of Tacoma, WA; sisters, Ruby Genell Alexander and husband Jerry of Brownsville; half-sisters, Marytean Haak and husband Charles, Karen Woods and husband Junior and Lisa Cummings and husband Jay all of Brownsville.
Sheila D. Hull Briggs
Sheila D. Hull Briggs, 46, of Cookeville passed away at her home on Jan. 23. Funeral services were held on Jan. 26 at the chapel of Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Briggs officiating. Interment followed at Richardson Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Bobby Briggs, Brandon Hargis, Derek Harris, Junior Carter, Andrew Loftis and Richard Rhoten.
Sheila D. Hull Briggs was born on June 21, 1965 in Livingston to William Joe Mathis and the late Evelyn Marie (Booher) Mathis.
She is preceded in death by her mother and brother, Darrell “Little Man” Mathis.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Robert Briggs of Cookeville; son, Robert Briggs and wife Julia of Cookeville; daughters, Amanda Hargis and husband Brandon of Rickman and Ciara Miller of Crossville; father, William Joe Mathis; sister, Rita Mathis of Livingston; brothers, Ronnie Mathis of Cookeville, Randal “Bear” Mathis of Rickman and Jerry “Byrd” Mathis of Cookeville; grandchildren, Duncan Lee Hargis, Gretah Paige Hargis, Evan Briggs and Layliegh Briggs.
Alan O’dell Thompson
Alan O’dell Thompson, 18, of Cookeville passed away on Jan. 25. Funeral services were held at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Tosh officiating. Interment followed at Stone Seminary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tyler Slagle, Joseph Slagle, Cody Baugh, Timothy Cobble, Dakota Pharris and Levi Fox. Honorary pallbearer was Mason Tays.
Alan O’dell Thompson was born on May 25, 1993 in Cookeville. He was a 2011 graduate of Cookeville High School. He loved sports, motorcycles and skateboarding. He was a member of the Bangham Heights Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by: his grandfather, Haskell Slagle, great grandfather, Malcolm Wilborn; grandmother, Ruby Mayberry; grandfather, Woody Thompson; and uncle, Jeff Thompson.

Clarence Ray, 64, of Allons passed away at his home on Jan. 25. Funeral services were held on Jan. 27 at the chapel of Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Ryan Meadows officiating. Interment followed at Hunter Cove Cemetery.

Clarence Ray was born on Jan. 14, 1948 in Allons to the late C.B. and Lucy Eldridge Ray.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, W.C. Ray, Edgar Ray and Paul Ray; and sister, Diana Ozell Ray.

Clyde Lee Bilbrey
Clyde Lee Bilbrey,79, of Indianapolis, IN passed away at the Community Hospital – East Indianapolis, IN. Funeral services were held on Jan. 18 at the Livingston Funeral Home with Jerry Cravens officiating. Interment followed at Polk-Bilbrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Steve Coffee, Jimmy Bilbrey, Joey McCowan, Terry Bilbrey, Ronnie Bilbrey and Scott West.
Clyde Lee Bilbrey was born on Aug. 25, 1932 in Overton County. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, a retired GM Tool and Die Welder and a member of the NRA and UAW.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mae Bilbrey and his wife June (Ledbetter) Bilbrey.
Survivors include: his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Bilbrey of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Johnnie Hougue of Anderson, IN, Faye McCowan of Rickman and Corene Cravens of Columbia; brothers, James Bilbrey of Livingston, Ronald Bilbrey of Anderson, IN and Kenneth Bilbrey of Livingston; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family member and friends.
Joe Donald Murphy
Joe Donald Murphy, 67, of Monterey passed away on Jan. 28 at his home. Funeral services were held on Jan. 30 at the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Phipps and Rev. Eugene McCowan officiating.
Joe Donald Murphy was born on Dec. 6, 1944 in Overton County. He was a retired Construction Superintendent working mostly as a bridge builder.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Marvin and Dora Phillips Murphy; sons, Tracy and Terry Murphy; and brother Robert Murphy.
Survivors include: his wife, Naomi Vanderpool Murphy of Monterey; son, Joe Murphy of Monterey; grandchildren, Devon, Dalton, Dylan, Dawson, Shane and Tara Murphy; sisters, Earlene Padgett of Monterey and Emma Jean Truitt and husband Winward of Orlando, FL; brothers, Percy Murphy and wife Kay; Marvin Jr. Murphy and wife Berta; and Paul Murphy and Gail all of Monterey; and mother-in-law, Della Vanderpool of Murfreesboro.
