Mildred McCarter Denton

Inspector

Mildred McCarter Denton, 87, of Red Boiling Springs and formerly of the Leonard Community in Clay County, passed away Nov. 20 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, KY. Graveside services and interment were held Nov. 23 from the Leonard Cemetery in Clay County with Jimmy Cook officiating..

Mildred McCarter Denton was born March 18, 1925 in Clay County. She was an inspector for Genesco in Nashville for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harrison and Ethel Coons McCarter; husband  Oakley Denton; sisters Alta May McCarter, Delno York, Pearl Knight, Eunice Cole and Lucille Fisher; brothers Oren, Carson, Willard and Emmitt McCarter.      

Surviving relatives include her sister-in-law Edna McCarter of Lafayette.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

James Lee Green

Barber

James Lee Green, 72, of Smyrna formerly of Clay County passed away Nov. 22 at his residence. Funeral services were held Nov. 24 in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Wilder officiating. Interment followed in the Hinson Cemetery.

James Lee Green was born in Clay County. He was a barber and enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Lucille Lancaster Green.

Surviving relatives include his son Douglas Green of Moss; daughter MichellCrowe of Tompkinsville, KY; sisters Emojean Smith, Sylvia Boudreau, Pearl Lancaster, Ellen Craig, Ora Lou West, Donetta Thompson and Deanie Qualls; brothers Eddie Green and Alvis Green;  granddaughter Cornea McCormick; and great grandson Brentley Rybolt.

Pallbearers were Tony Rybolt, Chandler Crowe, Tim Wilson, Junior Qualls, Roger West and Brandon Key.

May God bless our many friends for the love and support at the loss of our loved one, Danny Rellon Petty. Thanks to Brother Shane Halmon, Robert Cox and Joy Langford for the wonderful stories told of our loved one. And most of all for the kindness and prayers.

We appreciate the attention of Upton’s Funeral Home in our time of despair. Thank you to those who served as pallbearers, brought food, sent flowers, visited in our home and called during this sad time.

Bro. Harold Reeder graduated from Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab in Cookeville on Nov. 20. He will continue in Cardiac Rehab for prevention of additional heart and lung problems. Tim Sells, Emily Hancock and Andy Mitchell, owner of the CitizenStatesman and Livingston Enterprise newspaper, Rite Aid Drug Store, Dr. and Mrs. Anthony Carter of Tompkinsville, St. Thomas Hospital and Hospital Group, Dr. Dante Graves, City Montgomery, R.N., Lisa Dillehay F.N.P., Cardrothoracic Surgeon Dr. Evelio Rodriguex, Dr. Larry Patterson and Donna, Dr Brett Gewin, and the Eye Center of Tennessee. 

He prays we all will strive to bring glory to the “Good Lord” by prayers, words and acts of kindness and also, we are the “Good Lord’s” servant daily by Christian’s examples: words, prayers, acts of kindness and we as servants to the “Good Lord,” we have negative or positive impact on others lives. He extremely appreciates the “Good Lord” for having the privilege and honor of servant to the “Good Lord” for app. 40 years and ask us all to please remember the “Good Lord” and the “Good Lord” and his will first and we know how to by reading the Holy Bible – we as Christians must let our light shine daily – to glorify God! “Unity In Christ!”
