Free Poetry Contest

The Christian Poets Society is sponsoring a free poetry contest open to everyone. There are 50 prizes totaling $5,000, with a $1,000 grand prize for the winner. Poems of 21 lines or less on any subject and in any style will be judged by the contest director Dr. Jerome Cousins. Send poem to: Free Poetry Contest, 106 Cambria Cir. Citrus Heights, CA 95721. Or enter at Deadline for entering is Dec. 31. Include your name and address on the same page as your poem. For a winners’ list please enclose a stamped return envelope. It will also be posted online.

Christmas Cantata

The Celina United Methodist Church Choir will present their Christmas
Cantata “Come Celebrate Christmas” Sunday evening, Dec. 9, at
6:30 p.m. at the church.  Please join us for an evening of music celebrating
the season.

The Santa Trial

“A Courthouse Christmas….. The Santa Trial” will take place. Showtime is 7 p.m. each night. Come and find out if there is a Santa Claus. A local cast of actors and choirs will provide you with an evening of joyful drama, comedy and music. The program will take place in the upstairs courtroom, so seating will be limited to 120, including balcony seats, per performance. Tickets are available at the banks and the Chamber office.


The American Cancer Society invites you to the Clay County Courthouse Square for Love-Lights-A-Tree on Dec. 15 following the Clay County Christmas Parade. Christmas Parade

The Clay County Christmas Parade Committee reports that the 2012 theme of the Annual Christmas Parade this year is “BELIEVE”.

The parade will kick off Dec. 15 at 2 p.m., beginning at the Save-A-Lot parking lot and continuing down East Lake Avenue ending at the old courthouse square where everyone is invited to join Santa Claus for pictures and more.

The parade is organized by a small group of volunteers who donate their time and effort to plan, create and coordinate the parade to make it successful for our community. If you are interested in volunteering for the day of the parade please email:
