The East Tennessee Kidney Foundation presents transplant expert Oscar H. Grandas, MD, FACS, at its “Working Lunch” speaker series event on Thursday, Nov. 15, noon-2 p.m. at Cherokee Country Club.

L.B.J.& C. Closed For Thanksgiving

The L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Central Office and Head Start Center will be closed Nov. 22 and 23 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Benefit

A benefit to help raise funds for the upkeep of the Ashlock Cemetery will be held Nov. 17 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Pea Ridge Fire Hall. Anyone with family members or friends are asked to come and participate.

Thanksgiving And Christmas Holidays Closings

The Clay County Sanitation Department would like to announce that they will be observing Thanksgiving on Nov. 22 and Christmas on Dec. 25. All county dumpsites and the convenience center in Celina will be closed on these two days.

All other days during the holidays, the dumpsites and convenience center will be open as usual. Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the county dumpsites. Convenience center is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day Monday through Saturday. Convenience center office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Master Cattle Meeting

Master Cattlemen training will be held for interested beef producers at the Clay County Community Center.  The first sessions will be held Monday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. The Master Cattlemen program is being sponsored by the Clay County Extension Service and the Clay County Cattlemen Association. The latest in beef cattle production practices will be presented. These practices will be even more important in the future as we move towards a more source verified marketing system. The program is open to all beef producers. Successful completion of this training will qualify producers for an increase in Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement programs from 35 to 50 percent cost share levels. This increase has been a positive and has contributed to Clay County being 12th in the state in TDA Enhancement Grants.
