Cattlemen’s Steak Fundraiser Is Friday
The Overton County Cattlemen’s Association has planned their fall beef promotion and fundraiser for Friday, Oct. 12 at the old Holt’s Family Pharmacy. The Cattlemen’s Association will serve a boneless rib-eye steak sandwich plate to raise funds to support ongoing activities such as high school scholarships, educational demonstrations, purchasing cattle equipment and sponsoring various youth and other agriculture programs in the county. Steak sandwich plates will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. until as long as they last. For more information call President Hughie Oakley at 445-7998.
Board Of Education Meeting
The Overton County Board of Education will meet in regular session on Oct. 22 at the Central Education Office. The open door work session begins at 6 p.m.
A.H. Roberts will have a parent-teacher conference on Oct. 11 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Overton County Adult Education staff would like to help you achieve this goal. Interested persons should contact the Adult Education Office at 823-7761. The program offers a variety of services. All program services are free of charge. Unemployed individuals may qualify to take the GED test free of charge. We currently have two locations to serve you, Livingston and Hanging Limb.

Girl Scout Troop Accepting Donations
Middle Tennessee Girl Scout Troop 2208 is taking donations of blankets to the 20th Annual Operation Stand Down Nashville on Oct. 31. The donations go to homeless veterans.
Parent-Child Connection is offering a series of parenting classes. PCC is at no charge and sessions are held Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Series II for this fall begins with an orientation on Oct. 10 and the first class “Nurturing as a Lifestyle” will be held Oct. 24. Rickman Elementary Fall Festival
Rickman Elementary will have a fall festival Oct. 25. Concessions open at 5 p.m. and the festival is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in RES Gym with a haunted house, hayrides, door prizes, games and more. Proceeds benefit Rickman Elementary students.
Animal Awareness Meeting
The Animal Awareness Association of Overton County will have its regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the law office of Kelly Williams on West Broad Street in Livingston.
Annual Amber’s 4-Mile Run/Walk
The 7th Annual Amber’s 4-Mile Run/Walk will be held Oct. 13 behind the Livingston Quick Stop. Check-in will be from 7 a.m. until 7:45 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. For more information, call Paula at 498-2150.
A bean supper will be held Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Fairground Volunteer Fire Department.
Benefit/Auction For Ben Savage
A benefit/auction will be held for Ben Savage from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Overton County Fairgrounds. The CASA Volunteer Advocates will have a “Walk the Walk” Halloween costume parade to raise donations for abused and neglected children. The event will be Oct. 13 and registration for the walk will be at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Millard Oakley Public Library.
Clay County Chili Cook-Off
The 4th Annual Clay County Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct. 13 at the courthouse square. A chili cooking competition is the highlight event, also featuring music, pumpkin decorating and a corn hole tournament. All entries for the competition must be received by Oct. 12.
