City Garbage Routes To Change
Garbage routes in the Town of Livingston will temporarily change in order for the city to observe New Years. Trash will not be picked up Wednesday, Jan. 1. Wednesday’s trash route will be picked up on Thursday, Jan. 2 along with Thursday’s usual route.

“In God We Trust” Fund Established
An “In God We Trust” fund has been set up in order to install “In God We Trust” on the Courthouse in Livingston. If you would like to support this project, please bring donations to Union Bank & Trust in Livingston or Rickman and ask the funds be placed in the “In God We Trust” fund. The cut-off date to donate to this fund will be Jan. 13. For more information, call Jim Clark at 931-510-1544 or W.B. Melton at 931-823-6662. Letters on Courthouse will be made from aluminum and will be 12” tall and a gold/bronze color.

Benefit Auction For Stanford Padgett To Be Held Jan. 4
A benefit auction to help pay the medical expenses of Stanford Padgett will be held beginning at 10 a.m., Jan. 4 at Green Pond Masonic Lodge Building, 110 Murphy Lane, Crawford. A turkey shoot is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Lunch and a cakewalk will be held beginning at 11 a.m. The benefit auction is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. For more information, call 931-445-3252.

County Commission To Meet Jan. 13
The Overton County Commission will meet in regular session on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Overton County Courthouse.

UCHRA Commodity Card Recertification Set
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency would like to remind those who receive assistance through the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program, known as Commodities; it is time for re-certification of their commodities card. With 2014 deliveries right around the corner, it is important for recipients to recertify their commodity card with their local county offices prior to the first pick-up date. Recertification date starts Jan. 2. If you think you or someone you know qualifies for this program, please contact the UCHRA office at 931-823-7323.

Sheriff’s Department To Hold Roadblocks
The Overton County Sheriff’s Department will hold a series of checkpoints to be conducted Dec. 31 throughout the county. The checkpoints are an effort to stop drunk driving and promote safety. The Sheriff’s Department asks that if you choose to drink, always get a sober, designated driver and buckle up.

CASA Training Workshops Scheduled
Every child has the right to be treated with dignity, be safe and thrive in a loving family. Court Appoint Special Advocate (C.A.S.A.) volunteers work to ensure that the rights of abused and neglected children are being protected. Training for CASA advocates in this area is scheduled for January. Adult Relative Support Meetings Now Offered
Are you raising a relative child or need housing assistance? For more information on assistance and support, please contact Melissa Allison at the Upper Cumberland Development District toll free at 1-877-275-8233. Adult relative support group meetings are held every third Tuesday from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m., at the First Christian Church at 320 Oakley Street, Livingston, TN. For housing assistance while caring for relative child, contact Myra Walker at 931-432-4111.

Narcotics Anonymous Scheduled To Meet
Narcotics Anonymous meets Tuesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. at United Methodist Church on Main St., Livingston. Everyone is welcome.

Daughters Of Confederacy To Meet
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Captain Sally Tompkins 2123 will meet Wednesday, Jan. 8, at noon in the upper level of the Putnam County Library.  Please contact 931-738-5869 if you have a Confederate ancestor or further questions.

All Convenience Centers To Close For New Year’s 

All Convenience Centers will be closed Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s Day.

Millard Oakley Public Library To Hold Story Time
Story-time will be held beginning at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2 at Millard Oakley Public Library. Preschool age children and their guardians are welcome to attend. The event is expected to last one hour.

VFW To Hold Coffee With Veteran Event
The Livingston VFW Post 5062 is hosting, “Have Coffee With A Veteran” morning from   8 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Jan. 4 at the VFW Post Building. Those who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces are invited to come and have coffee, conversation and enjoy the comradeship of veterans. You do not have to be a veteran to attend.
