Charlie E. Ray, 88, of Livingston passed away March 1 at his home. Funeral services were held March 4 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.
Charlie E. Ray was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Overton County.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eulon and Melinda Jane Savage Ray and wife Mary Jo Poindexter Ray.
Surviving relatives include his daughters Susan Ray Sims and husband Darius of Monroe, Sonya Ray Haskins of Nashville, Frances Ray Edmondson and husband Roger of Ft. Pierce, FL, Patricia Ray Sapp and husband Jones O’Quinn of Kathleen, GA; brothers Robert G. (Gack) Ray and wife Bonnie, and Terry Ray and wife Faye; sister Sue Ray Smith and husband Junior; and 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Steve Sims, Charles Sims, Jason Sapp, Johnny Harris, Ridge Harris and River Harris.

Katherine McCauley Qualls, 94, of Nashville and formerly of Livingston passed away March 4 at Lakeshore Heartland. Funeral services were held March 8 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Boyette officiating. Interment followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.
Katherine McCauley Qualls was born July 27, 1918, in Kentucky. She was a homemaker and a member of Pennington Bend Church of Christ in Nashville.
She was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Ella Stephens McCauley; husband A.B. Qualls Jr.; and brother John McCauley.
Surviving relatives include her nephews and nieces John C. McCauley, Neil McCauley, Mike McCauley, Ritchie Qualls, David Qualls, Anne Rochelle and Clara Smith.
Serving as pallbearers were Bro. Tom Boyette, Bill Warren, Ritchie Qualls, David Qualls, Adam Qualls and Ronnie Smith.

Joyce O. Smith, 82, of Livingston passed away March 6 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held March 9 at Walnut Grove Church of Christ in Livingston with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating. Interment followed in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Joyce O. Smith was born May 5, 1930, in Overton County. She was a greenhouse nursery worker and a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elbert Bedford and Julie Rose Ogletree; husband Charlie Lee Smith; brothers Dale, Felix and George L. Ogletree; and sisters Nell Weems, Jean Hunter and Bessie Sells.
Surviving relatives include her son Aaron Smith of Livingston; daughter Charlotte Garrett and husband Jerry of Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Jessel Harold Smith was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN. He was a foreman and affiliated with the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fowler and Loraine Lollar Smith.
Surviving relatives include wife Nell Dean (Hestand) Smith; daughter Robin Rich of Red Boiling Springs; sister Lois Cornwell of Tompkinsville, KY; brother Robert Smith of Murfreesboro; granddaughters Lauren (Nathan) Harris of Lafayette; Jenna (Marcus) Hudson of Red Boiling Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Walter L. Daily, 82, of the Rickman community passed away March 6 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held March 8 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Chris Reagan officiating. Interment followed in the Zion Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the James T. Davis Memorial VFW Post 5062.
Walter L. Daily was born April 4, 1930, in Overton County. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in construction. He was a member of Zion Hill United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Ellie Neal Daily.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 38 years Rebecca Nell Smith Daily; daughters Patricia Spicer and husband Mike, and Rebecca Bilbrey and husband Jim; brothers Bob Daily and Jerry Daily; sisters Janice Brown and Magdaline Daily; grandchildren Jonah Bilbrey and wife Vickie, Timothy Spicer and wife Cardelia and Trenena Spicer-Wilcher; great grandchildren Annie, Emma, Grace, Analeigh, Isaac, Sean and Malaki; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Virgil Phillips, 78, of Cookeville passed away March 9 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held March 12 from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Glen Masters and Bro. Scott Griner officiating. Interment followed in the Warren Cemetery.
Melvin Virgil Phillips was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Overton County. He was a machinist throughout his career and was a Baptist in faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents Benton J. and Dorothy Ray Phillips; daughter Sherrie Rena Phillips; brothers Roy, Charles and Elza Phillips; and sister Jessie Copeland.
Surviving relatives include his wife Paula Joyce Dickerson Phillips of Cookeville; sons and daughters-in-law Shane Phillips and wife Shannon, and Shawn Phillips and wife Mary, all of Cookeville; stepdaughter Michelle Lawson; brother and sister-in-law Estel B. Phillips and wife Margaret of Cookeville; and four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Tyler Dewey Denson was born Sept. 27, 1980, in Jackson County. He was a member of Boma Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dewey and Rhoda Denson and Lillie Mathis; and uncles Jerry and Ewin Denson.
Surviving relatives include his parents Shirlie and Judy Denson of Cookeville; aunts Joyce Denson of Gainesboro and Mary Lou Denson of Livingston; cousins Joey Denson of Gainesboro and Jackie Denson of Alpine, TX.

Marshal Murphy, 64, of Monterey passed away March 8 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held March 11 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Bro. Nick Nichols officiating. Interment followed in the Love Joy Cemetery.
Marshal Murphy was born July 18, 1948, in Overton County. He was a truck driver and last worked with Sand Products in Monterey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Rosie McCowan Murphy; daughter Charlotte Murphy; sisters Louise Erhard, Elsie Murphy, Sara Pierce, Beulah Phillips and Hazel Phillips; brother Matthew Murphy; and half brother Poly McCowan.
Surviving relatives include wife Faye McCloud Murphy of Monterey; son Wayne Murphy and friend Tina Melton of Monterey; grandchildren Kayla, Kelsey and Cheyenne Murphy; sisters and brother-in-law Bernice Henry of Monterey, and Treva Nichols and husband Nick of Crossville; and brother Carl Murphy of the Love Joy community.

Jonathan “Johnny” Brown Cole, 65, of Livingston passed away March 7 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Graveside services were held March 10 at Turkeytown Cemetery with Bro. Robert Cooper officiating.
Jonathan “Johnny” Brown Cole was born March 12, 1947, in Overton County, where he lived most of his life. He was a machinist and an instructor at the vocational school in Livingston. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Owen Cole and Irene Cole; wife Dorothy Ann Cole; brothers Eddie and Patrick Cole; and sisters Charlotte and Diana Cole.
Surviving relatives include his daughters Sammye Copeland and husband Greg, and Melissa Simpson and husband Randall, all of Rickman; brothers Freddie Cole and David Cole, both of Allons; grandchildren Oliva, Devin and Sarah Simpson, and Grayson Copeland; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were P.J. Cole, Billy Cole, Dustin Harris, Chuck Cooper, Devin Simpson and Jason Hogue.
