Peggy Ann Herron Slagle, 79, passed away Feb. 22 at her residence in Gainesboro. A private family service will be held at a later date. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Peggy Ann Herron Slagle was born Nov. 15, 1933 in Madison. She worked in management in the food industry.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard Elmo Herron and Hazel Elizabeth Manning Herron and her husband Kenneth D. Slagle.

Surviving relatives include sons David Clancy of Franklin and Michael and wife Juanita Clancy of Franklin; daughters Patricia Clancy of Newport News, VA, and Michelle Slagle Morris and partner Tony McCormick of Gainesboro and grandsons Skyler and wife Dina Morris of Gurnee, IL, Trevor and wife Liz Morris of Round Lake, IL, Tyler Morris of Waukegan, IL and Spencer Morris R.O.T.C. at Florida State University.

Mayme Jo Hicks

Mayme Jo Hicks, 65, passed away Feb. 25 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Feb. 26 from the Algood Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Smith officiating. Interment followed at Algood City Cemetery.

Mayme Jo Hicks was born Sept. 21, 1947 in Jackson County. She was retired from the Identity Group and a member of the Algood United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Estel and Dorothy Gentry Chaffin; husband Jamie Lee Hicks and sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Bobby Allen.

Surviving relatives include daughters and a son-in-law Tracey and Kenny Slaughter and Amy Hicks and fiancé Jack Elrod and three grandchildren Jamie West, Taylor Slaughter and Austin Elrod.
