School Board Meeting
The Overton County School Board will meet Feb. 18 at the Central Education Office. A work session will begin at 6 p.m. with the board meeting immediately following.
Commodities Distribution
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Overton County from 9 a.m. until noon on Feb. 19 at the First Baptist Church in Livingston.
Everyone must present a valid UCHRA commodity card in order to receive commodities. UCHRA does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, national origin, religion or disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its programs, services or activities.
Free Medicare Help
SHIP/SMP representatives from the Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging & Disability will be at the Overton County Senior Center on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. until noon to offer counsel on any Medicare questions and concerns. They will also screen people with low incomes and limited assets for extra help with their Medicare Part B premiums, Part D premiums and deductibles. To make an appointment, call 823-1268. NARFE Meeting
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1956, will have its regular monthly meeting on Feb. 19 at the Shoney’s Restaurant in Cookeville. Head Start Accepting Applications
The L.B.J. & C. Head Start in Livingston is currently accepting applications to provide free comprehensive child development services to children 3-5 years of age from low-income families in a full-day program. L.B.J. & C. also offers services to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. For more information, contact Head Start at 823-1757.
Parenting Class
The Stephens Center is offering a series of parenting classes at no charge, with sessions held from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The class Understanding Discipline will be held Feb. 20. For more information, contact 823-6432 or 1-800-635-5199.
