GED Assistance
The Overton County Adult Education Office offers a variety of services and programs to help adults achieve their educational goals. All programs and services are free of charge. Unemployed individuals may qualify to take the GED test free of charge.

Adult Relative Support Group And Housing Assistance
Adult relative support group meetings are held every third Tuesday from noon until 1 p.m. at First Christian Church in Livingston.
For information on assistance and support for raising a relative child, contact Melissa Allison at the Upper Cumberland Development District toll free at 1-877-275-8233. For housing assistance while caring for a relative child, contact Myra Walker at 432-4141.
Library Holiday Closing
The Millard Oakley Public Library will be closed Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Head Start Holiday Closing
The L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers and the Central Office will be closed Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Head Start Board Meeting
The L.B.J. & C Development Corporation Board of Director’s will hold their bi-monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation, 1150 Chocolate Dr., Cookeville.
Valentine’s Day Dinner And Movie
The Millard Oakley Public Library will host a Valentine’s Day dinner and movie starting at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. The movie will be “Sabrina,” starring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, and dinner will be a choice of baked ham or Parmesan chicken breast. For price information, call the library at 823-1888.
Parenting Class
The Stephens Center is offering a series of parenting classes at no charge, with sessions held from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The class Managing Anger and Stress will be held Feb. 13. For more information, contact 823-6432 or 1-800-635-5199.
Independence Community Center Meeting
The Independence Community Center will have a meeting at 6 p.m., Feb. 7.
