Rena Lambert Jones

Grocery Store Cashier

Rena Lambert Jones, 79, passed away Jan. 24 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Jan. 27 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery.

Rena Lambert Jones was a grocery store cashier, a Christian and a member of the Lord’s church.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Lambert and Ava Brown Lambert;  husband Burton Jones; son Don Edgbert Jones; brothers Junior Lambert, Homer Vickers, Everette Vickers and Lee Vickers; and sisters Pearlie Keith and Ethel Keith.

Surviving relatives include daughter Melba and her husband Roger Dale Gore of Gainesboro, sister Zephia Jones of Lawton, OK; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John Jerry Dillon

Salesman

John Jerry Dillon, 69, passed away Jan. 21 at Mabry Health Care Center. Memorial services will be conducted Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood Chapel in Gainesboro.

John Jerry Dillon was a salesman and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was born July 4, 1943 in Stillwater, OK. He was the son of the late Gertude (Dishman) and Billie E. Dillon. He is survived by his wife Linda (Carter) Dillon.

Iris Nadine Chaffin

Iris Nadine Chaffin, 88, passed away Jan. 22 at her home in Blairsville following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 at the Mountain View Chapel with minister Terry Stuart officiating. Interment followed at Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Iris Nadine Chaffin was born May 19, 1924 in Gainesboro. Before she retired, she had been employed with Georgia Boot for over 30 years. She loved working in her yard and gardening. She loved animals, especially her cat Boots. She was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lattice C. Allen and Lucy Taylor Allen.

Surviving relatives include daughters and sons-in-law Pat and Bill Parker of Blairsville and Winnie and Coy Youngblood of Blairsville; sister Evelyn Denson of Gainesboro; grandchildren Penny Zeger, Scott Hamby and Yolanda Rowland; great grandchildren Roxanne Zeger, Kristena Zeger, Ashley Rowland and Paxton Hamby; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Card Of Thanks

The family of Bessie Mae Flatt Young would like to thank everyone who made donations, sent cards and flowers, phone calls, visited the funeral home and brought food to the funeral home and to the ladies at the Center Grove Church of Christ for the wonderful food that was prepared and served after the funeral service. We would like to thank Brother Jimmy Anderson for his kind words and for all the special memories he shared with everyone and Brother John Mabery for all his comforting words and special memories of Ma Bessie. We would also like to thank Brother Bill Coe for leading the singing, Ma would have loved to have been there to hear it, she loved Bill’s singing, for the pallbearers for all they did and to special friends that made a long journey just to attend the funeral. For everyone for all the kindness that was expressed to the family during our time of grief we deeply appreciate all of you.
