Head Start Holiday Closing

The L.B.J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers and the Central Office will be closed Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Parenting Class

The Millard Oakley Public Library will host a book signing of “Through the Storms,” by local author Linda Garrett Hicks from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Jan. 17.

Story time at the Millard Oakley Public Library will start at 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 17.

Fine Forgiveness Week At The Library

The Millard Oakley Library will hold a Fine Forgiveness week on late items returned from Jan. 21 through Jan. 26.

Alzheimer’s Support Group

An Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting will be held at 2 p.m., Jan. 17 at the Overton County Nursing Home. For more information, contact Vickie Bilbrey at 403-2167.

Saturday Night Music

The Independence Community Center will host Saturday night music on Jan. 19 featuring Tommy Crabtree and the Legend Band at 7 p.m. The house band begins at 5:30 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

SHIP Class

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is conducting a class for Upper Cumberland residents entering the confusing world of Medicare. Classes will consist of training on Parts A, B, C and D, as well as Medigap (supplement) policies and ways to prevent Medicare fraud. 

To enroll in the class, call 1-877-801-0044. Seating will be limited. The class will be held Jan. 31 in Cookeville. Class details and training materials will be available to those who have a reservation. All beneficiaries are encouraged to attend, including those under age 65 with disabilities.

Beekeepers Class And Meeting

The Overton County Beekeepers will hold a “Beginning Beekeepers” class from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Jan. 25 and from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., Jan. 26 at the Millard Oakley Public Library. For more information, contact Myrtle Evans at 823-0740. A monthly meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 17, also at the library.

“Red Bird In The Snow” Painting Event

“Red Bird in the Snow,” a painting event, will be hosted at the Overton County Adult Education Center, 112 Bussell St., Livingston, at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. All proceeds will go toward GED testing fees. Seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, contact 823-7761.

Livingston Recycling Center

The Livingston Recycling Center will be closed Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
