Bessie Mae Flatt Young, 92, passed away Jan. 7 at Salem Memorial District Hospital in Salem, MO. Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. John Mabery officiating. Interment followed at Pharris Cemetery.

Bessie Mae Flatt Young was born Aug. 12, 1920 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alex Z. Flatt and Addie Frances Bean Flatt; husband William Fred Young; granddaughter Lisa Renae Young; brothers Boyd Flatt and Earnest B. Flatt; and sisters Virgie Frazho, Christine Flatt, Lucinda Flatt, Ozelma Flatt and Alice Hawkins Pippin.

Surviving relatives include sons and daughters-in-law Burton and wife Shelia Young, Roy and wife Essie Young, Jerry  and wife Jo Ann Young and Bruce and wife Phyllis Young all of Gainesboro, Ray and wife Ruth Young of Cookeville and Sheldon and wife Lori Young of Bunker, MO; grandchildren Judy and husband Jeff McDaniel, Donna and husband Ben Young, Rita and husband Jimmy Strong, Todd and wife Vivian Young, Jerri and husband Jeff Anderson, Jamie Young, Wayne and wife Jennifer Young, Tanner Young, Hannah Young and Leah Young; 17 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and sister Avo Hogan of Iron City.

Hallie Baugh Weaver

Hallie Baugh Weaver, 90, passed away Jan. 7 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed at John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.

Hallie Baugh Weaver was born Oct. 19, 1922 in Jackson County. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the Riverwood Church of Christ in Nashville.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Frank Rhoten and Clara Johnson Rhoten; husband Thomas L. Weaver; son Tommy F. Weaver; daughter Sherrie Brammer; and sister Elise Garland.

Surviving relatives include son Randall and his wife Sue Weaver of Burns; grandchild Chase Allen Brammer of Nashville; and great grandchild Alaina Brammer.

Stephen George Walker Murphy

CFO And CPA

Stephen George Walker Murphy, 77, passed away on Dec. 26 at the Bryn Mawr Hospital. Memorial services will be held Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. at the West End Church of Christ in Nashville.

Stephen George Walker Murphy was born Nov. 2, 1935 in Fairmont, WV. He was a CFO at his business Medical Data Management, a CFO at Brandywine Hospital in Pennsylvania and a DPA at Arthur Anderson and Company in Washington D.C. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf and studying the Bible and US history. He was a faithful member of the King of Prussia Church of Christ and a proud American who served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years Jane Lovell (Wooten) Murphy, children Jill Bryne Murphy of Nashville, Paul Murphy of Somers Point, NJ and Michael Murphy of Stavanger, Norway; and his grandchildren Mikayla and Nina.
