Mazelle Vinson Newberry, 89, of Red Boiling Springs passed away Dec. 15 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. Funeral services were held Dec. 18 from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Floyd Ferguson officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.

Mazelle Vinson Newberry was born March 13, 1923. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Bluff Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sid and Gossie Crabtree Vinson; husband Sherman Newberry; son Sherman Newberry Jr.; sisters Lorell Green, Pernell Cross and Imogene Allen; and brother Leslie Gray Vinson.

Surviving relatives include daughter and son-in-law Jannie Gregory and husband Jesse T. of Red Boiling Springs; sisters Joe Proffitt of Chapel Hill and  Irene Denton and husband Floyd of Batesville, AR; brothers Donald Vinson and wife Jean of Clinton, OH, Doyle Vinson and wife Pat of Murfreesboro and Dowl Vinson of Smyrna; grandchildren Melinda Gregory of Mt. Juliet, Dawn Randall and husband of Rockvale, Shelly Kempell and husband Dean of Wadsworth, OH, Eddie Newberry of Akron, OH and  Larry Wilson of Lafayette; and great grandchildren Kyle, Kole and Kenna Kempell, Miranda and Rylan Randall.

Pallbearers were her family.

Melvin Miller Maynard, 59, of Moss passed away Dec. 11 at the Cumberland River Hospital. The family chose cremation.

Melvin Miller Maynard was born Aug. 7, 1953 in Crossville. He was a mechanical engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.B. and Bernice (Miller) Maynard.

Surviving relatives include his wife Lori Maynard of Moss; cousins Wilburn, Houston, Leon, and D.C. Robbins all of Timothy, O’Dean Davis of Timothy, Helen Gray of Rickman and Delon Robbins of Livingston.

Hall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
