An Overton County man lost his life in a two-vehicle
accident that occurred on Livingston Highway on State Hwy. 52 June 14 around
According to the THP report, Herman W. Kilman, 85, of
Allons was driving a 1994 4-door Jeep Laredo pulling a trailer with a lawnmower
and was attempting to intersect State 52 from Old State Hwy. 52 when he failed
to yield the right of way and was struck in the driver’s side door by a 2004
Chevy Pickup traveling west on State Hwy. 52 driven by John C. Donaldson, 48,
of Celina. Kilman’s Jeep overturned and came to final rest on its top after
being struck in the side by the Chevy Pickup.
Kilman was transported from the scene via Clay County EMS
to Cumberland River Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Donaldson
suffered minor cuts and bruises.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of
the accident. The posted speed on State Hwy. 52 is 55 mph.
Tennessee Highway Patrolman Toby Beaty, THP Lt. David
Allred, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Rescue Squad, Clay County EMS
and East 52 Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the accident.
